Student Homecoming 2010 Volunteer Application for CAA Student Ambassadors Application Due: 6PM, Monday, August 30th Please email electronic copy to carmengarrett@berkeley.edu Student Homecoming 2010 Volunteer Application What is Student Homecoming? Our mission is to celebrate the spirit of Homecoming at Cal through fostering student and alumni interactions, planning a week of events that involve the entire Berkeley campus, and building traditions that will last beyond our years as students. We will embrace and display the diversity of student life at Berkeley through events in which we collaborate and involve the Greek community, Residence Halls, Student Organizations, Volunteer Clubs, and Cultural Affiliations. Together with the Cal Alumni Association, we will welcome Alumni back to the university and develop Homecoming programs tailored to students who would like to network and connect with alumni. We will develop partnerships with businesses from the Berkeley community and connect them to campus by involving them in Homecoming activities. Within this process, we will develop a group of talented student leaders, capable of event planning, collaboration with campus departments, and networking with Cal alumni. What is an Ambassador? An ambassador is a member of the Cal Alumni Association Student Ambassador Program. This program allows new students (whether freshmen, transfers, or just new to the program) the opportunity to get involved with CAA's student programs and to develop their leadership skills. It is through this program that a student can apply to be a leader in either the Student Homecoming Team or the Student Alumni Relations Council after their first year. Ambassadors play an essential part in the execution of Student Homecoming Week. Without Ambassadors, Student Homecoming Week really would not be possible. Membership dues are $10, which cover the cost for Ambassador t-shirts and social activities. All Ambassadors are required to volunteer at a few mandatory events during Student Homecoming Week. Other than that, Ambassadors have the freedom to pick which events at which they’d like to volunteer. Before the actual week of Homecoming, Ambassadors have the opportunity to assist with the preparation and promotion of Student Homecoming Week. After Student Homecoming Week in early October, Ambassadors continue their involvement by volunteering at events put on by our sister group, the Student Alumni Relations Council.
