The CP Foundation/NHMRC Doctoral Scholarship offers the recipient an opportunity to pursue their interest in cerebral palsy research, to acquire knowledge and skills from other cerebral palsy researchers and professionals and to seek assistance from the CP Foundation with any aspect of their work. This might include the recruitment of participants for research trials. The successful candidate may be asked to present progress reports to the trustees of the CP Foundation. The latest data shows that in 2010 almost 20,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Tragically more than 3,300 men will die as a direct cause of prostate cancer. Retina Australia/NHMRC Scholarship http://www.retinaaustralia.com.au/ Retina Australia in conjunction with the NHMRC, is offering up to two scholarships in the field of Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and other retinal dystrophies (excluding diabetic retinopathy). Victorian Neurotrauma Initiative http://www.vni.com.au/ The Victorian Neurotrauma Initiative (VNI) is a $63 million health research fund that supports research into Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) conducted by Victorian scientists in collaboration with national and international colleagues. Established in 2005 with funding from the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD), the VNI was incorporated as a Pty Ltd in November 2006. The VNI will be offering thee types of Fellowships and Awards in collaboration with NHMRC in 2010. As part of a commitment to fund a suite of people support activities, Translating Research into Practice (TRIP) Fellowships, Practitioner Fellowships, and Career Development Awards (CDAs) in neurotrauma will be offered through the 2010 NHMRC Round. Fellowships and Awards represent a central component of VNI’s plan to build capacity and capability within the local research sector. Applicants based in Victoria will be able to nominate themselves for consideration for the NHMRC/VNI TRIP Fellowship and the NHMRC/VNI Practitioner Fellowship. Cooperation with NHMRC will allow the VNI to take advantage of NHMRC's considerable expertise. Moreover, this application process will minimise the amount of time researchers spend completing applications and maximise their time completing valuable neurotrauma research. The VNI looks forward to the next phases of this collaboration.
