1920’s Magazine Project DUE DATE___________ Magazine Requirements: 1. You will choose a magazine format which you will imitate. After analyzing the current magazine's format, you will create a magazine that mimics that format. The magazines you can choose from are: (most of these magazines did not exist in the 1920's, but we are more concerned with their format): 1. Time 2. Life 3. Newsweek 4. Sports Illustrated 5. People 6. Vogue 7. McCall's 8. Rolling Stone 9. Ladies Home Journal 2. You will create a magazine with the following components according to the format of one above: 1. Cover Page (Lead story, picture, title of magazine, editors/contributors, & date) 2. The Lead Story can be one of the feature articles placed in the magazine. 3. Table of Contents (this has to be created last) 4. Four feature or news articles. Articles must be written as if they could be in your model magazine during the 1920's (e.g. in a 1920's issue of Time). Each group member is responsible for 1. They can be about any significant event, or development during your group’s assigned year. 5. - Articles should be typed in column format, like a newspaper or magazine 3. Keep margins of 1 inch all around ....4. -The page on which your article is written should be in magazine format; that is, no large expanses of blank paper. You might wrap the article around a picture or an advertisement. ....5. Your articles must correspond to the date of your magazine and have some perspective of time. For instance, if your magazine is written in 1927, you cannot write about the stock market crash of 1929, and any articles about Babe Ruth must either be about the glorious 1927 season or retrospectives about his still vibrant career. - BIBLIOGRAPHY: Include a properly formatted bibliography at the end of your article. For each article, you must use at least two sources of information – 5, Each group member is responsible for One Feature Article (as mentioned above) One Advertisement (you may copy picture but make your own slogan A letter to the Editor on a current (1920’s) issue or opinion column related to a current topic of the 20’s One obituary related to a person that died during your year that is assigned. The person must be somewhat famous. 6. Each Group must take their year and include a list of the top 10. You will be given a year and you are to research the top ten categories for your year. They must be typed. You need to have the top of each. For example what is the top song of 1923? Top movie? Etc. You must find a top for each category below. The last category is one of your choosing. Place this page in the magazine. 1. Song 2. Movie 3. Book 4. Product 5. Actor 6. Actress 7. Sports Star (athlete) 8 Professional sports team 9. Industry or company 10. Your choice
