SUMMER 2003 ART TO SEE; ARTISTS TO KNOW Summer classes for children focus on art that can be seen at The Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH). Students learn about the artists who created these works, explore the paintings, drawings and sculpture, and express their responses by creating their own works of art using clay, tempera paint, oil pastels, plastic crayons and pencils. We encourage parents and children to visit the MFAH during the month of June and follow your child or children on a “treasure hunt” to locate each sculpture, drawing or painting that is discussed. We will provide a list of artists and art works that you can take with you and information on how to access the museum. The MFAH is a treasure in our city and we encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to visit it with your children. Older students follow a specialized curriculum designed to enhance their skills and abilities. These classes may draw on elements of the study of special artists; however, the emphasis in classes for older students is on developing art skills and techniques. Enroll early to participate in this summer artistic adventure. Read the brochure carefully to find the most appropriate class for your young artists to attend. Enroll your child by carefully checking the preferred class on the attached registration form. To be removed from the mailing list, call 281-283-3344.
