A Typical Day in Math Class 1. Warm-up Activity Come into class each day and begin the warm-up lesson 5-10 minutes will be allowed to complete the task Problems are displayed on the overhead Record on answer sheet you keep all week Graded weekly Recorded as a homework grade 2. Lesson and Notes Displayed on overhead or discussed using text book Notes recorded in notebook 3. Guided Practice Some problems will be completed in groups and some individually Guided practice will be graded and recorded at the end of the class period 4. Lesson wrap up Students will take turns summarizing the days lesson Homework (for 7th math) Assigned on Monday (or the first day of the week) Approximately 50 problems to be completed at home during the week ( 10-15 problems a day) Graded and recorded in class on Friday (or the last day of the week) Homework (Pre Algebra) Assigned daily Graded the following class period Quizzes Recorded as a test grade Unannounced Usually twice each unit Notebooks Required for every student Must come to class every day Graded twice a quarter as a test grade Includes: goals, notes and class assignments Tests Taken at the end of each unit Retest are not offered, so study! Must be made up on your own time if missed Grading Class work 35% Quizzes and tests 50% Homework 15% Classroom Behavior Rules: 1. Be seated when the bell rings 2. Be respectful of people and property 3. Be kind 4. Use appropriate classroom language 5. Work quietly and turn work in on time 6. No food or drink 7. Turn work in on time Consequences: First Offense: Warning Second Offense: Warning, written assignment requiring parent signature Third Offense: Parents are notified to arrange after school detention, 2:25-3:00 pm Fourth Offense: Parents are notified to arrange after school detention. 2:25- 3:00pm Fifth Offense: Student behavior is referred to the office
