AUTOBIOGRAPHY- is the story of a person’s life written by that person.
BIOGRAPHY- is the account of a person’s life written by someone other than the
subject.
ANECDOTE- is a brief, entertaining story based on a single interesting or humorous
incident or event. It can be biographical and reveal some aspect of a person’s character.
NONFICTION- is factual prose writing. It deals with real people and experiences.
DESCRIPTION- is writing that seeks to convey the impression of a setting, a person, an
animal, an object, or an event by appealing to the senses.
POINT OF VIEW- is the relationship of the narrator or storyteller to the story.
FIRST-PERSON POINT OF VIEW- is the story being told by one of the characters
inside the story.
LIMITED THIRD-PERSON POINT OF VIEW- the narrator reveals the thoughts of only
one character, but refers to the character as “he” or “she”.
SENSORY IMAGERY- is language that appeals to the five senses: sight, hearing, taste,
touch, and smell.
IMAGE- is a picture or likeness that is created with words.
SEQUENCE OF EVENTS- is the order in which the events in a story take place.
FICTION- is a prose narrative in which the writer invents situations and characters. Some
of the work may be based on fact or experience. It includes short stories, novellas, and
novels.
