FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE “CONVERSATION ON ART WITH IRVING BLUM” AT MARGULIES COLLECTION Miami, FL – The Margulies Collection At The Warehouse will present “A Conversation on Art With Irving Blum” on 7:00pm Tuesday evening, November 18th. The admission free program is part of The Margulies Collection’s ongoing series of educational programs for the Miami community. Irving Blum, a legendary name in contemporary art circles as the owner of the renowned Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles, began his career in 1955 working with prominent furniture designers Hans and Florence Knoll. Through his work with Mrs. Knoll, he was introduced to the art world and influential figures of the day such as artist Joseph Albers and dealers Sidney Janis and Betty Parsons. In 1957, Blum took over the young Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles which soon became an alternative space for showcasing young cutting edge artists. Blum was instrumental in shaping both the artist roster and the look of the gallery. Early influential exhibitions included solo and group exhibitions by then young artists such as Richard Diebenkorn, Ellsworth Kelly, Clifford Still, Robert Irwin, Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha, Roy Lichtenstein and Frank Stella. The Gallery also exhibited New York School artists including deKooning, Motherwell, Kline, Pollack and Rothko. The Margulies Collection is located at 591 NW 27th Street in the Wynwood Arts District.
