Calhoun Line Notes Vegetation Analysis Vegetation Analysis Dataset Summary: Vegetation data was collected along each trapline. Dates and formats of vegetation analysis vary from line to line. In general, the line intercept method was employed in 1958, 1961, 1970, 1972 and 1975 on specific veg-lines. Record Quality: This database was created from photocopies of original records. In some cases data was unreadable or illegible. Please accept our apology for misspelling of scientific names. Also, it cannot be guaranteed that this is a complete record of all Calhoun line Data at Sagehen Creek Field Station. Years, forms, and other info may be missing from this Database. Please contact Station Manager in attempt to track down previous researchers and Data originals. 'Procedures: Standard line transect procedures. Stretch foot-inch tape along a section and record in ' and '' the vegetation or substrate appearing under the tape. Record something for 100% of the section length. If tree or shrub and/or herbs are growing together, pro-rate each. If more than one item and cannot pro-rate, record the dominant item (e.g. young P. jeffrey with bare soil underneath, record intercept of the tree).' 'Condition: Record the condition of shrubs and trees in addition to intercept. A= alive D= dead R= re-sprout S= seedling (A,D,R, are especially important for sprayed area.
