SR. GOYA – TUESDAY NIGHT BASH We will gather on the second Tuesday of each month to
hang out with Fr. Gary. Our upcoming gatherings are scheduled for Tuesdays January 8th, February 19th,
March 12th, April 9th. See you then! We will meet at the home of Sarah Landis at
7:30 – 9:00 p.m.
PARISH NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY 2001 A SELL OUT! The Young Adult League is busily
putting final touches on this year’s celebration. A limited number of tickets remain for those wishing to
attend after 11:00 p.m. Call the Ascension New Year’s Eve Hotline at 510-517-0994.
YOUNG PEOPLE’S BIBLE STUDY resumes on Thursday, January 10th at 7:45 p.m. at the home of
Fr. Tom and Presbytera Vaso Paris. All young adults 30 and over are invited to attend.

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT TODAY Welcome to our Sunday School
Students and teachers as they present the story of Christ’s birth at
our annual Christmas Pageant. May Christ indeed be experienced as
our personal Emmanuel – God is within us.
PARISH FAMILY CHRISTMAS BRUNCH today immediately following Divine Liturgy. Make this annual get together part
of your family’s holiday tradition. There will be lots of good food and fellowship. And be prepared for a special
“surprise” visitor from the North Pole! Adults $6, children $4. Everyone is welcome.
ASCENSION PHILOPTOCHOS TO SPONSOR VASILOPITA SUPPER FOR NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA PRIESTS AND PRESBYTERAS ON JANUARY 3RD Metropolitan Anthony will join with
his Clergy and their families for a few hours of sharing and giving thanks for the ministries entrusted to them.
May God bless our Clergy and their families so that they can continue to lead and inspire us.
VASILOPITA AND BRUNCH The St. Sophia Circle of the Ascension Philoptochos invites you to a Silent
Auction of Vasilopitas accompanied by a delicious Brunch on Sunday, January 6th, following divine Liturgy.
Adults $6, children

CEMETERY PLOTS Now is the time to purchase cemetery plots in the Greek Orthodox section of
Oakmount Cemetery that borders Lafayette and Pleasant Hill. Price will increase next year. For more
information call Larry at the church office.
STEWARDSHIP This is the last month to send in your Stewardship for the parish. We are ahead of
last year, but are depending on all members to fulfill their increased giving commitments. $25,000 is
still needed – please do your part.
MIRACULOUS DISCOVERY: MODERN DAY MIRACLES DO HAPPEN! Welcome Steve
Triantafyllou who will relate his inspirational story of how he found an icon of the Mother of God. This
presentation will take place today immediately following Divine Liturgy in the Richmond Room. This
will serve as an extra credit date for our Sunday School students. They may use this to make up only
past missed or future missed Sunday School classes.
REMEMBER GODPARENT’S SUNDAY IS JANUARY 27TH THIS YEAR. Worship and
Luncheon. Plan now to bring your God Children.
BISHOP KALLISTOS WARE WILL SPEAK AT ASCENSION TUESDAY EVENING,
JANUARY 29TH at 7:15 p.m. Supper at 6:00 p.m. The date is now confirmed so tell your fiends and
plan to attend. Don’t miss out!
SUPER BOWL PARTY Make your plans now to watch the Super Bowl here at Ascension Cathedral
on Super Sunday, February 3rd, 2002. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children under 10. There will
be a giant screen television and activities for the entire family – including BBQ and other football
snacks.
YOUTH NIGHTS: JR. GOYA, HOPE & JOY Our upcoming meetings are scheduled for
Wednesdays January 9th, February 20th, march 13th and April 10th. We will meet at church for dinner
and fun at 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
