From November 10 to 12, 2016 the leading European trade show under the auspices of the UNESCO will already for the 12th time become the cross sector platform for everything regarding the preservation of cultural heritage. With the simultaneously held MUTEC, the international specialist trade show for museum and exhibition technology, which in 2016 for the first time will be organised by the Leipziger Messe, related topics will be addressed. Because the preservation of historical artefacts, culture, art, nature and technology for future generations is one of the core tasks of museums, archives and libraries. As of immediately exhibitors can register for both trade shows and until March 31, 2016 they can benefit from the early booking price. The diversity of the preservation and restoration of historical monuments and the challenges they are today subject to require wellfounded specialist knowledge, comprehensive practical experience, knowledge of traditional handicraft and restoration techniques, as well as the courage for innovations. The denkmal has been involved in this since 1994 as the most important address in Europe for the interdisciplinary exchange of experience. With a high quality in the offerings and a top-class international specialist program, every two years the event attracts thousands of visitors to the Leipzig trade fair facilities. In addition the hallmarks of the leading European trade show are the pronounced professional character, the extensive diversity of topics, as well as the bandwidth of the exhibitor presentations with practical demonstrations, "live workshops" and action areas. The UNESCO as patron has been supporting the denkmal since 1998 and will also continue with this partnership in 2016. "The UNESCO is a long-term partner of the denkmal and we are very happy about the renewed patronage. The cooperation confirms the international significance of the denkmal for the care and preservation 2 of historical monuments, restoration and renovation of old buildings", explains Markus Geisenberger, managing director of the Leipziger Messe. "As leading European trade show it forms an important interface between culture, free enterprise, science and politics." The national and international exhibitor enlistment for the denkmal 2016 started on September 01. Numerous regular exhibitors have already registered. The Leipziger Messe again expects first-class presentations and new exhibitors, which will enrich the diversity of the offering. The specialist program with a wide spectrum of topics on current developments and trends is also under preparation. Since 2004 the specialist trade show Lehmbau extends the offering of the denkmal and functions as popular meeting place for experts and all those interested in the tradition-rich building material mud and brick. MUTEC informs about museum and exhibition technology Since 2010 exhibitors and visitors benefit from the MUTEC, the international specialist trade show for museum and exhibition technology, which is held parallel to the denkmal. As of 2016 the MUTEC will also be organised by the Leipziger Messe. "Cultural heritage and objects of cultural value form the quintessence of both events. This results in exciting synergy effects, but also clearly differentiated topic areas. This diversity enriches both trade shows.“ said Kersten Bunke, who is responsible as project director for the denkmal and the MUTEC. Central topics of the specialist trade show are museum technology and equipment, visitor services, media presentation, as well as museum infrastructure with topics such as archiving, depot and digitalisation. With this wide offering the trade show is directed towards operators of museums and collections, exhibition houses, galleries, archives and libraries. A visit is also worthwhile for architecture offices, consultants and museum restorators. The specialist program will address challenges in the sector. In the specialist programme more than 100 events were offered to the interested public. For the 11th edition of the trade show there were more than 13,100 visitors. In parallel to the denkmal the international specialist trade show for museum and exhibition technology MUTEC will be held, as well as the specialist trade show for mud and brick construction. 3 About the MUTEC Since 2010 the MUTEC takes place under one roof with the denkmal, the leading European trade show for the care and preservation of historical monuments, restoration and renovation of old buildings, and as of 2016 will be organised by the Leipziger Messe. In 2014, 55 exhibitors from 12 countries presented at the MUTEC, who together with the denkmal attracted 13,100 visitors.
