denkmal 2016
Leading European trade show for the care and preservation of ancient
monuments, restoration and renovation of old buildings
(November 10 to 12, 2016)
Leipzig, September 30, 2015
Start of the registration phase for the denkmal
UNESCO once again undertakes the patronage
Since its premiere in 1994 the denkmal has become established as the
international sector meeting place for the care and preservation of ancient
monuments, restoration and renovation of old buildings. From November 10
to 12, 2016 the leading European trade show under the auspices of the
UNESCO will already for the 12th time become the cross sector platform for
everything regarding the preservation of cultural heritage. With the
simultaneously held MUTEC, the international specialist trade show for
museum and exhibition technology, which in 2016 for the first time will be
organised by the Leipziger Messe, related topics will be addressed. Because
the preservation of historical artefacts, culture, art, nature and technology for
future generations is one of the core tasks of museums, archives and
libraries. As of immediately exhibitors can register for both trade shows and
until March 31, 2016 they can benefit from the early booking price.
The diversity of the preservation and restoration of historical monuments and the
challenges they are today subject to require wellfounded specialist knowledge,
comprehensive practical experience, knowledge of traditional handicraft and
restoration techniques, as well as the courage for innovations.
The denkmal has been involved in this since 1994 as the most important address in
Europe for the interdisciplinary exchange of experience. With a high quality in the
offerings and a top-class international specialist program, every two years the event
attracts thousands of visitors to the Leipzig trade fair facilities. In addition the
hallmarks of the leading European trade show are the pronounced professional
character, the extensive diversity of topics, as well as the bandwidth of the exhibitor
presentations with practical demonstrations, "live workshops" and action areas.
The UNESCO as patron has been supporting the denkmal since 1998 and will also
continue with this partnership in 2016. "The UNESCO is a long-term partner of the
denkmal and we are very happy about the renewed patronage. The cooperation
confirms the international significance of the denkmal for the care and preservation
2
of historical monuments, restoration and renovation of old buildings", explains
Markus Geisenberger, managing director of the Leipziger Messe. "As leading
European trade show it forms an important interface between culture, free
enterprise, science and politics."
The national and international exhibitor enlistment for the denkmal 2016 started on
September 01. Numerous regular exhibitors have already registered. The Leipziger
Messe again expects first-class presentations and new exhibitors, which will enrich
the diversity of the offering. The specialist program with a wide spectrum of topics
on current developments and trends is also under preparation. Since 2004 the
specialist trade show Lehmbau extends the offering of the denkmal and functions as
popular meeting place for experts and all those interested in the tradition-rich
building material mud and brick.
MUTEC informs about museum and exhibition technology
Since 2010 exhibitors and visitors benefit from the MUTEC, the international
specialist trade show for museum and exhibition technology, which is held parallel to
the denkmal. As of 2016 the MUTEC will also be organised by the Leipziger Messe.
"Cultural heritage and objects of cultural value form the quintessence of both events.
This results in exciting synergy effects, but also clearly differentiated topic areas.
This diversity enriches both trade shows.“ said Kersten Bunke, who is responsible
as project director for the denkmal and the MUTEC.
Central topics of the specialist trade show are museum technology and equipment,
visitor services, media presentation, as well as museum infrastructure with topics
such as archiving, depot and digitalisation. With this wide offering the trade show is
directed towards operators of museums and collections, exhibition houses, galleries,
archives and libraries. A visit is also worthwhile for architecture offices, consultants
and museum restorators. The specialist program will address challenges in the
sector.
As of immediately the current exhibitor brochures are available on the Internet, as
well as the complete registration documents for the 12th denkmal and the MUTEC
2016. Further information under www.denkmal-leipzig.de and www.mutec.de.
