DreamHack Leipzig 2016 (22 – 24 January 2016) Leipzig, 02 June 2015 The world's largest eSports festival, DreamHack, conquers Leipzig After an absence of several years, "Gaming is coming home" when DreamHack Leipzig celebrates its premier on the Leipzig trade fair premises from 22 to 24 January 2016. The official German platform of Swedish DreamHack, the world's largest eSports festival, is hosted by the Leipzig trade fair. Schenker technologies, a producer of high-end gaming computers from Leipzig, is its cooperation partner. "Computer games have become a fixed part of our zeitgeist. This is proven impressively by the huge LAN parties and eSports tournaments where gamers from around the world show off their skills to an enthusiastic audience," explains Markus Geisenberger, managing director of Leipziger Messe. "With DreamHack Leipzig, we establish a brand with international power in Germany. It will be an annual event and Germany's largest LAN party as well as a Europe-wide competition in the eSports community." Leipziger Messe is supported by Schenker Technologies GmbH. Since the first event in November 1994, Swedish DreamHack has developed into the largest eSports festival in the world. There are now three events per year that between them draw tens of thousands of visitors and participants. The core pieces are the LAN parties with thousands of participants and eSportstournaments that are broadcast on large screens for the audience. With DreamHacks among others in Tours (France), Valencia (Spain) and Bucharest (Romania), the event concept has already spread across Europe. DreamHack Leipzig is becoming a platform for the entire German-speaking area.
