1.DANIEL MINNEY
The first traceable ancestor of the Minney line appears in the
tax records of Lebanon Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey from
1778 to 1785, along with his brother, Peter Minney. In May 1778,
Daniel paid taxes on 100 acres of land, 4 horses, 8 cattle and 7 pigs.
In February 1780, he paid taxes on 8 acres of land 3 horses and 7
cattle.
Daniel may have been a weaver or a dealer in woolen cloth.
Records of the Frandin Fulling Mill located near Hamden NJ record 4
job orders for Daniel between 1775 and October 14, 1781. (Fulling
mills process newly woven woolen cloth to soften it.) We have no
information on Daniel's wife, except that her name was Mary Reeder.
Daniel next appears in the 1789 tax records of Bethel Township,
Bedford County PA.
(In 1850, Bedford County was split to form
Bedford and Fulton Counties, with Bethel Township presently located
in Fulton County.) Peter Minney appears in the 1789 Bethel Township
tax records.
The "Widow Minney" appears in the Bethel Township tax records from
1791 to 1797, leading to the conclusion that Daniel died in 1790. By
1798, Mary had married Joseph Fawney, and he became the administrator
of Daniel Minney's estate.
Peter Minney's will is recorded in the 1795 Bedford County PA
records and reads as follows:
"
In the Name of God Amen. I Peter Minney of Bethel Township,
Bedford County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, yoeman, beiing
very Sick and weak of Body, yet of sound and perfect Understanding and
Memory. do constitute this my Last Will and Testamenta and desire it
may be received by all as such; First I most humbly bequeath my soul
to Almighty God my maker, besseching his most gracious Acceptance of
it, through the all sufficient merits and mediation of my most
compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ, who gave himself to be an
atonement for my sins, and is able to save the uttermost, all that
come unto God by him seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for
them and who I trust will not reject me a returning repentant Sinner,
when I come to him for Mercy; in this hope and Confirdence i render
upe my Soul with comfort, humbly besseching the most blessed and
glorious Family. the three one God most holy most merciful and
gracious, to prepair me for the Time of my Destitution; and then to
take me to himself into the Place and rest and incomparable Felicity
which he has prepaired for all that love and fear his holy Name, Amen.
Blessed be God.
I Give my body to the Earth, from whence it was taken, in full
assurance of Resurrection fronm thence at the Last Day. as for my
burial, I desire it may be decent and without pomp or grandeur at the
Discretion of my Esecutors hereafter named who, I doubt not will
manage it with all requistite prudence. As to my Worldly Estate where
with it hast pleased God to bless me with in this Life, I will and
positively order that all my debts be parid, First I give and bequeath
my Brother Daniel Minneys children my Nephews and Nieces Namely
Matthew Minney, Phebe Minney, John Minney, Daniel Minney and Rachel
Minney all my Worldly Estate to be divided amongst them as they come
of Age' I will and order that my goods be sold ast Publick Vandace and
the money thence arising with the money not outstanding to be put to
Interest until those under age come of Age, if any one or more of them
should decease before they arive to age of Maturity their share or
Shares to be equally divided amongst the surviving ones, and Lastly, I
do hereby Constitute and appoint Joseph Waarford and Thomas Moore
Executors of this my Last will and Testament and Trustees of the
Children above named. In Witness where of I have here unto set my
Hand and Seal this seventh Day of May in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven Hundred and Ninety five."

Daniel Minney II, a son of Daniel and Mary (Reeder) Minney, was
born in 1784, probably in Lebanon Township, Hunterdon County, New
Jersey. The "Widow Minney" (Mary, Daniel II's mother) appeared on the
Bethel Township, Bedford County PA tax records from 1791 to 1797.
Daniel married Phebe Maison. Phoebe was born in PA about 1780.
Traces of the family have not been found until Daniel II appears
on the Whitely Township, Greene County PA tax records in 1818. Daniel
Minney appears regularly in the Greene County records from 1818 until
1832. On October 29, 1831, Daniel and Phebe sold 209 acres of land in
three different parcels. There is a confusing entry in the Greene
County tax records for 1832, and Daniel appears no more.
On June 20, 1833, Daniel bought 110 acres of land in Monongalia
County VA, on Booths Creek. Monongalia County court house burned in
1850 and no records earlier than 1851 are available. Daniel and Phebe
appear in the July 17, 1850 Doddridge County, VA (WV) census.
Daniel's age is 66 and his birthplace New Jersey, and Phebe is listed
as 70 and born in PA.

Jonathan S. Minney, a son of Daniel and Phebe (Maison) Minney,
was born in Greene County PA August 14, 1814 and died in Gilmer County
WV August 9, 1891. He married Rebecca Ann Walls in Monongalia County
VA (WV) April 20, 1837. Rebecca, a daughter of William and Catherine
(Morgan) Walls, was born in Monongalia County January 16, 1819 and
died in Gilmer County WV in 1915. The family moved from Monongalia
County to Harrison County VA (WV) in 1840 and lived there until moving
to Calhoun County VA (WV) in 1853. They later moved to Gilmer County
WV, where they both died.

Daniel Minney, a son of Daniel and Phebe (Maison) Minney, was
born about 1815. He married Mary Mitchel in Marion County, VA (WV)
December 20, 1845. Mary was born in VA about 1831. On November 4,
1848, Daniel Minney of Doddridge County, VA, bought 235 acres of land
on the Little Kanawha River in Gilmer County, VA (WV) from Patrick
Rafferty. (Deed Book 1, p.283, Gilmer County, WV.) The family moved
from Doddridge County in time to be enumerated in the September 4,
1850 Gilmer County census. Daniel was still living there June 12,
1852, when he executed a trust deed to Patrick Rafferty on 75 acres of
land. By October 8, 1858, the family had probably left the area. On
that date, the Gilmer County clerk executed a deed granting Daniel's
235 acres of land to John P. Fell, for 1853 delinquent taxes of 57
cents plus interest, for a total of 79 cents. (Gilmer County Court
Deed Book 3, p.448.) Fern Minney's book says that the family moved to
Pine Creek in Calhoun County, where Mary is buried on the Emory Ball
farm.

"Ves" Minney was born February 15, 1855 in Calhoun County VA
(WV). In 1865, his parents, Jonathan S. Minney and Rebecca Ann (Walls)
Minney bought 52 acres of land on Snake Root Run near Stumptown,
Calhoun County. "Ves" grew to manhood on this small farm. Before his
marriage, "Ves" taught a subscription school, but after his marriage
he farmed full time. On December 31, 1879, "Ves" married Anetta
Rogers, daughter of John Addison and Francena (Sands) Rogers. Anetta
was born and raised on Crooked Fork of Steer Creek, Gilmer County, on
what is known in 1985 as "The Earn Boggs place." John Addison Rogers
is buried in a lone grave on a high point above the Earn Boggs house
and Francena is buried in a lost grave at the Rosedale Methodist
Church cemetery.
The "Ves" Minney family lived for a several years at "The Tom
Frame Farm" on Cub Fork of Crooked Fork. Oe Minney told her son, Bly
Miller, that she was born on that farm. Sometime after Oe was born
they moved to a farm on Steer Creek between Stumptown and Shock--a
farm owned by Scott Hardman in 1985. They moved from there to the
Ellsworth Perkins farm on the ridge at the head of Laurel Fork of
Steer Creek in 1893. This farm was owned by Henry Bailey in 1977, at
the time this manuscript was written. The family remained there until
1900, when they bought 58 acres of land on Laurel Fork of Steer Creek
from C.N. and Ella Snodgrass. (Deed dated May 10, 1900)
A thorn ran through "Ves'" left ear lobe causing a wound that
never healed. He died February 12, 1910, (Tradition says that the
thorn wound became "cancerous"), and was buried by his request on
a point near the Rosedale Baptist Church, "so that he could always
hear the church bell ring". Others were buried near him and land for
a cemetery was donated by T.V. Shock, thus beginning the Rosedale
Baptist Cemetery. The trustees of the church at that time demanded
that all graves be kept in the same row, burying people by "first to
die" rather than by family group. When Anetta died December 21, 1934,
the cemetery fence was moved so that she could be buried beside her
husband.
Both "Ves" and Anetta were members of the Crooked Fork Baptist
Church. (Anetta was baptized December 2, 1877.) Both received
letters on December 2 1899 and joined the Rosedale Baptist Church
October 20, 1900.
"Ves" and Anetta were the parents of nine children, five sons and
four daughters. All nine children settled and raised their families
within Gilmer County WV.

Ira Minney was born Jan. 5, 1881, probably on the "Tom Frame
Farm" on Crooked Fork of Steer Creek. As a young man, Ira was
unusually strong and was called "Hoss" by his friends.
Two stories attest to Ira's unusual strength. Foster Norman told
about Ira lifting a cross tie that other men could not budge. Vessie
Minney, Ira's youngest brother told that during the time the Elk and
Little Kanawha railroad was being built from Gassaway, only Ira and
Clarence Sands could lift the steel rails. Ira lifted a rail and took
one step. Clarence lifted his rail, but could not walk with it.
Ira married Myrtle Deletha Meadows March 24, 1906. She was born
May 20, 1881 at Lost Creek, Harrison County WV, a daughter of Mitchell
and Sarah Ellen (Webb) Meadows. Myrtle's parents lived about halfway
between Pleasant Hill and Johnstown, between two churches. (They
could hear singing from both churches at night.)
About 1885, Myrtle's family moved to Baldwin, Gilmer County and
about 1893 they moved to Chestnut Lick, near Lockney, WV, and later
bought a farm on Little Crooked Fork, Gilmer County. The farm the
Meadows' bought on Little Crooked Fork was all timber. They cleared
the land and paid for the farm by raising and selling corn. Esta,
Myrtle's sister, remembers, "Boy, did we ever have to work hard!"
Myrtle was "a clean woman" and a bit superstitious. She
maintained that the house must be completely cleaned on New Year's Day
or the entire family would be dirty the entire year. No matter if it
was raining or freezing outside, the windows must be washed, every
door scoured and every corner of the house cleaned.
Ira and Myrtle began house keeping at a timber camp located on
Rhode Run, Gilmer County, where Ruffner Cottrill lived in 1985. About
five men lived at this camp. When they arrived at the camp after
their wedding, Myrtle found that someone had set a large kettle of
dried beans to cook in the fireplace. The beans were infested with
bugs and the bugs were cooking along with the beans. Their first
child, Ena Minney, was born at this camp Jan. 5, 1907, Ira's birthday.
When Ira's father, Sylvester David Minney, died Feb. 12, 1907, Ira and
Myrtle moved to a log cabin located near his mother's house so that he
could help care for her.
Ira's mother was "a very cranky old woman"
and they soon moved to "The Ann Chenoweth Farm", a property owned by
George Sauers in 1977. Ira bought a small farm on Little Crooked Fork
from his cousin Robert Jeremiah "Bob" Minney who had married Myrtle's
sister, Emily Virginia Meadows. Ira built a "Jenny Lynn" house with
two rooms; one a kitchen and the other serving as living room and
bedroom. Their daughter Rena was born in July 1912, their first
summer in this house. On a cool September morning in 1912, Myrtle
built a fire in the heating stove in the living-bedroom and was
working in the kitchen when she heard a crackling sound in the other
room. She rushed in to find the roof and ceiling on fire. She told
Ena to go to the Meadows house and holler for them to come help. Ena
ran just outside where a log had fallen across the path, climbed on
the log (still completely out of sight of the Meadows' house) and
began to yell for help. Myrtle told her that she would have to get
closer to their house for them to hear. Ena, who was five at the time,
remembers that she ran so fast that it felt as if she were flying as
she hurried to the Meadows house. Oat, Charlie and Esta, (Myrtle's
brothers and sister) were working in a cornfield with their father,
Mitchell David Meadows.
When they arrived at Myrtle's house, they
found that she had moved her sewing machine, bed clothes, trunk
contents, etc., into the yard. Mitchell Meadows was old and could not
move quickly and arrived after his children had extinguished the fire.
He sat down in the yard and cried because he could not get there in
time to help.
Myrtle sent word to Ira who was timbering in Bear Fork of Steer
Creek to return home and repair the roof. The hole burned in the roof
was "about the size of two dishpans on both sides of the stove pipe."
When they were children, Ena and Ina found a bird's nest near the
ground and visited the nest every day. One day Ina returned to tell
her father that two snakes were "singing to the birds." Ira grabbed
his gun and went to the bird's nest where he found two rattle snakes.
The snakes had been rattling at the children, but Ina thought they
were singing to the birds. Later, Ira crawled under the house with a
gun to kill another rattlesnake.
From Little Crooked Fork, the Ira Minney family moved to Chestnut
Lick, near Lockney, WV, where Jesse Minney lived in 1977. During
their first night in this house, November 17, 1915, Ressie and
Cressie were born. Next day, a neighborhood child visited the twins
and returned home to report that the babies had been named Rusty and
Crusty.
Ira's children affectionately called him "Papa" and remember him
as being very gentle and psychological rather than strict. Ina
recalls a time at the "Big House" on Chestnut Lick when the little run
by the house froze solid and she, Rena and Ena wanted to go skating.
Ira and Myrtle feared that they would fall and injure themselves, but
Ira wouldn't tell them they couldn't go. Instead, he told them that
the ice would wear out their shoes and because he couldn't afford to
buy new shoes, they must skate barefoot. They could take a board and
lay it on the ice, and when their feet got cold, they could stand on
the board. The board he gave them was only big enough for one girl at
a time. The girls gleefully removed their shoes and headed for the
creek with their board. By the time they got to the creek, their feet
were cold from wading the snow and when they tried to skate, their
feet would "bow up and freeze fast." One would stand on the board
until another would run up and say, "You skate a while, my feet are
cold." Ina remembers that they "skated" only a few minutes until
their desire had been satisfied.
When necessary, however, Ira could hand out punishment. Ina
remembers that Ira and Myrtle were on the hill hoeing corn at the
Little Crooked Fork farm. Ena, Ina and Rena had dammed the creek to
make a "swimmin' hole," but they knew better than to go swimming
without permission. The family had some Rhode Island Red chickens and
the girls decided to "let the hens go swimming." Ina went to the
corncrib and got some corn in her little tie around apron. The girls
threw out some corn, and of course, the hens climbed over each other
getting to it. The girls would grab a hen and throw her into the
swimming hole and watch her "swim" out. Chickens don't swim well and
when a hen struggled to the bank, they would throw her back in. Ira
yelled from the cornfield for the girls to stop, but they "were having
so much fun" they didn't hear. Ira finally came down from the field
with a peach limb and, in Ina's words, "Gave us a tonein'".
Ira was a timber man. At that time there were very poor roads and
no trucks to haul logs to the sawmills. The timber was cut and the
logs skidded to the creeks with horses. The creeks were usually too
small to float logs except when they were in flood. When the floods
came, the men built rafts and "drifted" the logs to the sawmills. It
was necessary for men to accompany the rafts to prevent logs from
lodging against the creek banks and forming a "log jam." Ira liked
"drifting" and when there was a flood, he would grab his cant hook and
go.
Ira often worked for Foster Norman while timbering. Foster told of
them shantying together on Buck Fork in Calhoun County and Ira running
around the house barefoot on cold, snowy days so that his feet would
stay warm all day.
Park Norman told a story about Ira working for Frank Fisher on
Bear Fork of Steer Creek and the camp food running out.

showed up with a head of cabbage and a big onion and Ira and Park had
raw cabbage and onion for breakfast.
While living on Chestnut Lick, the family contracted diphtheria
almost every winter. Ira could diagnose which sore throats were
diphtheria and would go immediately to Dr. L.B. Meadows for medicine.
(Dr. Meadows is buried in Meadows cemetery at Normantown, WV, but he
is not known to be a relative of Myrtle.) Ena remembers the medicine
as being nitrate of silver that would turn a pewter spoon black. Ira
would trim the down from a chicken feather so that it looked like an
artist's paint brush and dip the tip of the feather in the medicine
and paint the children's throats. "Utt" Putnam had built the Chestnut
Lick house and moved away after losing a daughter to diphtheria. The
old dug well there is no longer in use. There was speculation that
"diphtheria lived in the well." Perhaps surface water was getting in.
In 1918, while the Ira's family was living on Chestnut Lick, the swine
flu epidemic killed several people in the community. When word came
that the "Bob" Minney family were all sick with the flu, Ira went
immediately to help care for that family. Myrtle begged him not to
go, but he felt such a strong compassion for the sick that he went. He
also contracted the flu, but was able to pull the entire family
through. Neighbors brought food to the house, but would leave it in
the yard for someone to get after they had gone. They were so afraid
of the flu that they would not enter the house. Ira Renis Minney was
born at the Chestnut Lick house Oct. 12, 1921.
Sheldon Fitzpatrick owned the house on Chestnut Lick and after he
sold it to "Bob" Minney, Ira moved his family back to his mother's
house on Laurel Fork to try once more to care for her. Time had not
improved Anetta's disposition and the family soon moved to the Jake
Lawson farm at the head of Laurel Fork. They had a garden and cow
pasture on this farm and rented cornfields from Dalton Reip. The
family soon moved to the Jess Snodgrass farm because this farm had
natural gas, a luxury that Ira's family had never enjoyed.
September 18, 1927 Savanna Baptist Church met at the Laurel
School House and was called to order for the reception of members.
Rev. C.R. Riddle was elected clerk protem. The following sisters were
received for baptism: Mrs. Myrtle Minney, Mrs. Ciller Minney, and
Miss Delphia Cottrill. The hand of fellowship was give to the above
sisters, also to Ira Minney, at the waters edge. The Church adjourned
till the next regular meeting in course. Rev. R.G. Richardson, Mod.

The preceding record was taken from the Savanna Baptist Church
records now in the hands of Ofa Barton of Rosedale, WV. Ena remembers
that Richman Rose baptized Myrtle. Goff Richardson had very poor
eyesight and baptized few, if any, people. Vessie Minney remembers
that Myrtle could not go to a revival meeting without shouting. One
night Myrtle's mother went to a meeting with her, and when Myrtle
began shouting, Sarah looked at her and said, "What's wrong with you?
Are you crazy?"
The Ira Minney family moved to the Vick Perkins farm at the head
of Laurel Fork early in the spring of 1929. Ressie contracted a
strange disease on this farm. Ira would send Renis and Ressie to find
the milk cow in the evening. When the boys were out of sight of the
house, Ressie would "fall dead" and could not be revived until Renis
had found the cow. When the cow came in sight, Ressie would
immediately recover. When Renis reported the problem to the rest of
the family, they advised him to hit Ressie with a rock to revive him
the next time he "fell dead." The next day, when the boys went cow
hunting, Ressie had the usual relapse of "death" as soon as they were
out of sight of the house. Renis picked up a rock and hit Ressie on
the ankle. Ressie had a big chew of tobacco and when the rock hit his
ankle, he swallowed his "chew." He became very sick and was sure he
really was going to die, this time. This treatment did cure his "fall
dead" malady.
In July of 1929, Myrtle contracted "spotted fever" (typhoid?).
When Ena was told, she and her husband, Straud Allen, rushed to
Myrtle's side. Ena remembers that she sent Straud home to get one of
their new mattresses because Myrtle, being a very heavy woman, was
almost impossible to turn on the "straw tick." Myrtle died August 5,
1929. Renis, who was six at the time of his mother's death, remembers
that he either sensed his mother was dying or was told. Just before
she died, Renis went to her room and asked if she wanted him to get
married. She replied, "No, I'm afraid your wife would be mean to
you." Ira remained on the Vick Perkins farm until he remarried.

Ezra Minney, second son of Sylvester David and Anetta (Rogers)
Minney, was born May 7, 1882, probably on the "Tom Frame Farm" on
Crooked Fork. On Nov 5, 1904, he married Alcinda (Cottrill)
Schoolcraft. To this union was born eight children. The Ezra Minney
family live in the Stumptown area until Alcinda's death after 13 years
of marriage. Ezra was very concerned with his children and personally
made the trip to the County Seat at Glenville, WV to record the births
of almost everyone of his children and the deaths of the less
fortunate. Ezra was a farmer by occupation and worked hard at making a
living for his family from the small patches he tilled. After his
second marriage to Josephine Stull, Ezra moved his family to Big Run
of Leading Creek near Glenville, WV, where he lived until his death.
Ezra and Josephine are buried in the Stalnaker cemetery near
Glenville.
On June 18, 1918, Alcinda (Cottrill) Minney died of "child bed
fever" near Stumptown, WV, in a house on the hill in the rear of the
house where Hadsel Ball lived in 1985. She was 37 years old. Alcinda
is buried in the Stumptown cemetery across Steer Creek. On March 13,
1922, Ezra married Josephine Stull. Josephine was born December 8,
1905 and died September 8, 1965.

Oe Minney, the fifth child of Sylvester David and Anetta (Rogers)
Minney, was born April 20, 1887 in Gilmer County WV and died at
Grantsville WV November 27, 1973. On December 24, 1907, she married
Grover Cleveland Miller. Grover, a son of George Washington and
Lucinda (Nicholas) Miller, was born Aug 26, 1885 on Mill Fork of Steer
Creek in Braxton County WV and died at Grantsville WV July 7, 1976.
They began house keeping at what they called "The Parker Place", in
the run where Homer Sampson lives in 1985. Their first child was born
during the year they lived there. They then moved to the farm on
Tanner's Fork of Steer Creek where Arlyn B. Miller lives in 1985 and
spent the rest of their lives there. From 1908 until 1930, Oe and
Grover lived in a log house that Oe's uncle, Fernando C. "Lindo"
Rogers had built. Grover did some remodeling to the house and built a
kitchen and all their children except the first were born there. In
1930, Grover and his children built a two story house and tore the old
one down.
Sometime around 1912, Grover and Joe Minney went into the
photography business. They had a "studio" in one of Grover's
buildings and most of the pictures of the families of that era are
their work. Grover worked as a blacksmith, shoeing horses, etc. He
kept a country store for a while, and hauled his merchandise from
Spencer, WV, with a team of horses and a wagon. For many years,
Grover had a grist mill and a home made turning lathe on which he made
many sets of split bottom chairs and rocking chairs. The grist mill
and the lathe were first driven by a steam engine and later with a gas
engine. One of the big events in a grandson's life was being there on
Saturday (mill day) and being permitted to blow the whistle on the
steam engine when grinding was finished for the day. Grover and his
sons were mechanically adept and inquisitive and the area around the
shop was a constant delight to children. Little water mills,
windmills, carved wooden chains, and little contrivances that did
unexpected and fascinating things made their appearance regularly. A
broken toy received the same attention and effort as any other project
and almost every niece and nephew remembers something Uncle Grover
made for them. When he was getting along in years, his shop burned.
His children got together and built another shop and he had some tools
in it, but he did little work after the new shop was built. Grover and
Oe were community minded and for many years, they faithfully visited
and tended the sick. Oe was a bit superstitious and believed there
were ghosts in the old log house and that they moved into the new
house when it was built. She, however, was not afraid, believing that
"ghosts" wouldn't harm anyone.

Vessie, the youngest son of Sylvester David and Anetta (Rogers)
Minney, was born Oct 13, 1892 on the Elsworth Perkins farm at the head
of Laurel Fork of Steer Creek and died in Ohio March 22, 1989.
When he was about 8 years old, the family moved to "the Homeplace"
on Laurel which Vessie inherited and lived most of his married life.
Vessie married a widow, Siller Matilda (Bishop) Dobbins on May 9, 1922.
Siller, a daughter of Aaron and Mary Ann (Miller) Bishop, was born June
14, 1897 and died June 13, 1976, and was first married to Okey Dobbins.
When they got older, they moved to Rosedale and lived a few years. His
children, who had settled in Ohio, later moved them to Ohio where they
lived in a trailer for several years.

(Meadows) Minney November 17, 1915 and died in Orlando, FL July 3, 2004. On
September 28, 1941, she married Ernest Albert Hunt, a son of William Henderson
and Cynthia Elizabeth (Cox) Hunt. They spent most of their married lives near
Hyndman, PA. Albert was stricken with a heart attack at the 1976 Minney reunion
and died September 6, 1976.

Ira Renis Minney, a son of Ira and Myrtle Deletha (Meadows) Minney was born
in Gilmer County WV October 21, 1921 and died in Kanawha County WV November 19,
2004. He married Blanche Christine Legg Feb 14, 1948. Before his marriage, Renis
went to Lorain, Ohio and worked in the shipyard for American Shipbuilding
Company. In 1944, he went to Charleston, WV. He remembers that he had $1,200
in the bank at Glenville, WV when he went to Charleston. He could not get a
check cashed anywhere in Charleston and had to pawn his watch to get bus fare to
return to Glenville and get money out of the bank. In Charleston, he worked for
Owens-Illinois Glass Company in the corrugated box department. He left OwensIllinois in 1962 and invested in boarding houses. He kept a grocery store for a
few years and was working for Charleston Memorial Hospital in 1977.
After Blanche died, Renis married a widow, Helen (-----) Collins. Helen
preceded Renis in death.

1928, he married Rhenna Lovana "Rennie" Adams. Rennie, a daughter of
Ethnie and Bertha Elizabeth (Queen) Adams, was born in Gilmer County WV
July 18, 1909 and died in Wood County WV August 2, 1999.
They lived their entire married lives in the Stumptown, WV area,
except for a few years in Ohio during World War II.

Tressie was born July 17, 1910, a daughter of Ezra and Alcinda
(Cottrill) Minney and died in Harrison County WV July 14, 1994.
She was only eight years old when her mother died. Ezra, her
father, went to Akron, Ohio to work and left the children with various
family and friends. When he remarried, he brought the children back
together. Tressie was born in a little house on the hill behind
Hadsel Ball's house, When Ezra remarried, the family lived in a little
house behind the present Aunt Minnie's Farm on the Steer Creek Road.
On Nov 11, 1927, Tressie married Virgil Queen and they began
housekeeping in Virgil's grandfather's house on Big run of Leading
Creek near where her father lived at that time.
Tressie divorced Virgil Queen and on Aug 10, 1940 married
Loda Guy Garrett. They lived on the farm where Tressie lived in
1977 near Sand Fork, WV. Tressie's husband died Jun 2, 1950.
