Coffee Mornings
For the Hospice:
Continue after Mass on Tuesday morning. There will be no coffee morning on Thursday of this week due to the
change of venue for Morning Mass that day. You will be pleased to know that, in spite of our restricted
accommodation these days, the Coffee mornings have raised £204.00 in the last three/four weeks. Thank you.
St. Aloysius’ College: Our Schola Cantorum is a specialist choral training programme focusing on Catholic liturgical music and our
choristers will be giving a musical performance on Tuesday 9 th February at 7:30pm in St. Aloysius’ Church,
Rose Street, Glasgow. Tickets £5 (under 18s free) from nwhite@staloysius.org

Social Event:
Thursday 11th February – Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Holy Mass with Sacrament of the Sick at 1:00pm in
the Parish Church Carfin. Light refreshments in the Xavier Centre, Carfin. Torchlight Rosary Procession at
7:00pm.

40 Days for Lent:
What are you doing for Lent ? Can you consider taking part in 40 Days for Life - a Christian Profile Campaign to raise
awareness about the crisis of abortion in our country. It has three parts. 1 – Prayer & Fasting. 2 – Peaceful Vigil.
3 – Community support. This campaign is not looking for financial aid but is looking for a personal public prayer
witness. You are asked to consider adopting helping 40 Days for Life as your Lenten Penance. To sign on or find out

Sciaf Wee Boxes:
Will be available as you leave Mass this weekend and next. Please take one. The UK Government has again
pledged to match pound for pound what we contribute to SCIAF this Lent.
Catholic Education Sunday: Thank you to the pupils and teachers of our several schools who assisted in the Liturgy at our Masses last
weekend. Thank you also to parishioners for their generous response in the second collection to the appeal
for support for the work of the Scottish Catholic Education Service. The sum contributed was £1, 172.00.

This week’s update continues our affectionate look-back at the story of our SSVP Conference and its
invaluable contribution to the growth of our parish. In future weeks we will reflect on the part played by,
among others, the Over-60s Club and the Women’s Guild. The website also has links to other websites

Prayers and very best wishes to Mrs. Patricia Stewart, headteacher of St. Hillary’s Primary School who retired on Friday 5 th
February. We offer Mrs. Stewart our very sincere thanks for all she has done for the boys and girls of St. Hilary’s over her 8 years
as headteacher and wish her every joy and happiness in her retirement.
Stuart and Cathie Gaddis would like to thank Fr. Chromy, Sr. Sophia and all of St. Leonard’s parish for all the prayers, cards and
Masses during Stuarts illness. Fr. Chromy will offer a Mass for all of you.

CHURCH REPAIRS :
The Church Insurers have received four quotes from firms able to carry out the first stage of the repairs required
in our church and these are under consideration. Hopefully they will soon award the contract to the preferred
firm and work will begin.
