Job Description
Role: Corporate & Major Donor Fundraising Manager (3 months/Full time)
Reporting to: Director of Fundraising & Communications
Location: City Hall, London
Salary: £40k pro rata
The Mayor’s Fund for London’s exists to give young Londoners the skills and opportunities to get a
decent job, escape the threat of poverty and play a full part in London’s future as the greatest city on
Earth.
Our work focuses on three priorities:

Hungry children in 50 London schools start the day fit and ready to learn thanks to our breakfast
clubs. Our literacy and numeracy projects are helping 6,500 young Londoners improve their reading
and maths. Our Step Up project is helping primary school children successfully transition into
secondary schools, while City Pitch is investing in young entrepreneurs who want make a positive
difference in their community. The next 12 months will see us find over 1,500 decent jobs and
opportunities for young Londoners as part of our Young London Working and Tech City Stars
programmes.

The Charity occupies a unique position in London, with the opportunity to act as a leader for the
sector in terms of strategic reach, impact and fundraising. Although an independent and apolitical
body, its relationship with the Greater London Authority (GLA), support from the Mayor of London
and powerful Board of Trustees offers significant potential to lead the response to helping young
Londoners escape poverty.
This temporary interim position, reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Communications, is
responsible for leading the management and development of relationships and revenue from
corporates and high level individuals.
You have a track record of proven success in fundraising/sponsorship in these areas. Your skills in
communication (particularly written communication) and relationship management are outstanding.
You can demonstrate your ability to innovate and help shape new funding opportunities, and achieve
fundraising targets whilst ensuring internal and external stakeholders are connected and inspired.
Empathy for the cause is paramount.
Responsibilities
Core
 Identify and source new income from Corporates and Major Donors
 Manage the ongoing relationships with Corporates and Major Donors, including update meetings
and the submission of funding and evaluation reports, liaising with the Charitable Activities team
Strategy
 Support the development of Mayor’s Fund for London’s Corporates and major donors
Fundraising Strategy and contribute to the overall Fundraising Strategy
 Explore and establish a variety of income streams, including Charity of the Year, employee
fundraising programmes, strategic partnerships, sponsorship packages, giving circles, to ensure
regular and sustainable annual income
Process
 Monitor and report against the income targets across the Corporates and Major Donors
functions
 Take responsibility for recording donors’ details including funding calendar on Salesforce
(database)
General
 Represent Mayor’s Fund for London at internal and external events/conferences where
appropriate
 Make a positive contribution to Mayor’s Fund for London, working within all the policies and
procedures of Mayor’s Fund for London
 Act as ambassador for Mayor’s Fund for London, protecting and promoting its reputation at all
times
Person Specification
Knowledge
 Experience and knowledge of the corporate sector and how commercial organisations
function
 Ideally experience and knowledge of the voluntary/3rd sector
 Knowledge of fundraising databases
 Knowledge of sources to create a pipeline for Corporates and Major Donors
 Knowledge and experience in writing applications for COY
Skills and Abilities
 Excellent interpersonal skills, including persuasion, diplomacy, networking and ability to
represent the organisation effectively to senior decision makers and high profile individual
 Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create innovative and persuasive
presentations and proposals to a range of audiences and media, tailored to each potential
donor’s preferences
 Excellent planning, project management and organisational skills, including ability to deliver
to multiple priorities whilst retaining a thorough attention to detail
 Excellent account management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with a
portfolio of Corporates and Major Donors clients at all partnership levels
 The ability to identify prospective donors through research or networking
 To be literate and able in IT skills e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with Microsoft
