Job Description and Person Specification
Job Title:
Acting Copyright Co-odinator (maternity cover)
This is to cover maternity leave for a minimum period of six
months, though likely to be longer. The maximum period will be
ten months. We would ideally like the candidate to start as soon as
possible. There will be a three month probationary period. In the
unlikely event of an early return by the current post-holder, the
successful candidate would be offered suitable alternative duties.
Reporting to:
Director
Working Hours:
9am to 5pm Monday to Friday inclusive, with one hour for lunch.
Total hours 35 per week. The above hours are the normal office
hours, but the post holder may from time to time need to undertake
some aspects of the post outside the normal office hours for which
time off in lieu will be given.
Purpose of Job:
To manage the charity’s relationships with publishers, and to
organise its book selection activities; liaising with the Library and
PR Manager to occasionally design, write and edit marketing
materials when required, ensuring a clear message and consistent
brand.
Pension:
Listening Books provides access (to eligible employees) to a voluntary
stakeholder pension scheme run by Scottish Widows or alternatively, will
contribute to a scheme of the employee's choice (provided the scheme
accepts employer's contributions and does not present any other
difficulties which render it impractical for the employer to do so).
Listening Books will match employee contributions into such pension
scheme/s up to a maximum of 8% of that employee's (gross) salary. More
specifically, Listening Books will match grossed-up employee
contributions such that at current (2014) basic tax rates, a net 80p
employee contribution plus a 20p tax refund from the government paid
into the scheme giving an employee gross contribution of £1, is then
matched by Listening Books with a £1 employer's contribution into the
scheme, up to a maximum of 8% of that employee's (gross) salary. The
employer's actual matched contribution under this scheme will not exceed
8% of the employee's (gross) salary. Therefore the maximum grossed-up
employee contribution under this scheme that the employer will match
will be 8% of (gross) salary.
Annual Leave:
20 days per annum accrued at the rate of 1.66 days per calendar
month based on a 35 hour week.
Salary:
£25,000 per annum
Diversity Policy:
It is the charity’s intention that all (part- and full-time as well as temporary, permanent
and fixed term staff) employees (and job applicants) should have an equal chance of
advancement, access to opportunity, and the training necessary to that end.
All employees will be recruited, promoted, transferred and trained on the basis of ability,
job requirement and fitness for the job, as defined in the person specification and job
description.

careers without difficulty or disadvantage. Listening Books will meet its obligations
