First Presbyterian Church of Houma – Vision Statement
Matthew 22:36-40. First Presbyterian Church of Houma is called to “love the LORD our God with all our heart,
soul, and mind and to love our neighbor as ourselves.” We seek to pursue this mission by focusing on Christ and
these key purposes given to the church.
WORSHIP: Exalt and love God in unity by offering praise and petition and by confessing Jesus is LORD.
MINISTRY: Ministry is loving one another, by encouraging one another, caring for one another and using Gods
gifts in service to one another.
DISCIPLESHIP: Teaching the good news of God’s love in Christ, through Bible study; applying God’s truth and
demonstrating the gospel in our daily lives.
MISSION: Following the great commandment we will proclaim the gospel in our homes, communities and to the
ends of the earth, through outreach, testimony, sharing of gifts and works of mercy in love. We will seek to display
the joy of our salvation to the world.
FELLOWSHIP: Fellowship begins with our mutual acceptance in Christ, it shows its self in the common joy of the
spirit and it strengthens the body in love.
In pursuing these purposes it is our conviction we will “glorify God and enjoy him forever”: question one of the
Larger Westminster Catechism.
Pastoral Intern update
Rhonda and I are not moving. I am staying as your Pastoral Intern. We have purchased a house in Houma at
1105 Suthon Avenue.
Pastor Search Committee
Committee Chairman Emmett Galloway submits this report: Your Pastor Search Committee is preparing itself to
begin interviewing, with discernment, candidates. Pastor Bill Crawford made the needed opening comments at
our first meeting and since then we have individually read the Westminster Confession, the parts of the
Presbyterian Book of Order dealing with Pastors and Pastor Search Committees, and Guidelines for Pastor
Search Committee. We are currently in the process of completing a 7 part internet audio course on interviewing
the best candidates. We are in need of your continued prayers as we go forward on this spiritual journey seeking
the Lord's will as to our new Pastor.
SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP
Part of our giving glory to God is by gathering together in fellowship. Every Sunday immediately after the morning
worship service we gather in Fellowship Hall for snacks and Godly fellowship. We would like to invite everyone to
