Part-Time Director of Children’s Ministries for Deer Creek Church I. Purpose: To provide leadership and oversight of all the Children’s Ministries of DCC. This includes Sunday morning programing for newborn children (Nursery) to elementary age students (fifth grade). It also includes any additional programing that is needed to help our students flourish; like Club 15 (a pre-student ministry experience for fourth and fifth graders), Firm Foundations (a catechism class) and summer outreach program (VBS). These programs are often at times other than Sunday Morning. The ultimate goal for the Director is to ensure that the children of DCC and the volunteer leaders of this ministry are being discipled and learning to discern and respond in healthy ways to the leading of God in their lives. II. Qualifications: General: • Lives a life of exemplary dependence upon Christ and models His three-fold balance of UP, IN and OUT. • Demonstrates personal and familial transformation by the Gospel. • Relates to others (staff, congregants, neighbors, etc.) in such a way that demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit and encourages their Christlikeness. • Agrees with the Westminster Confession of Faith, DCC’s stated Vision and Values, and be open to learning a culture of making disciples who make disciples. • Has a philosophy of leadership development that encourages teamwork through recruitment, equipping, deploying and reviewing. Job-specific: • Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree and some training in Religious Education. • Must have the gift of leadership and be able to gather, train, equip, encourage, deploy, and evaluate volunteers who serve in the Children’s Ministry. • Must have the ability to effectively communicate the vision for discipling children and directly facilitate the implementation of that vision through his/her team. • Must be able to make the Gospel and discipleship central to all children’s programming and team activities. • Must be above reproach in relating to children and marked with Christian maturity in all relationships. III. Responsibilities: • Implement short and long-term strategies for discipling children and volunteer leaders in the children’s ministries. • Be responsible for the leadership, evaluation, promotion, and curriculum of the Sunday Morning Children’s Ministry. • Recruit, train, deploy, and evaluate all teachers on an on-going basis. • Develop an annual budget and determine equipment and program needs with the Executive Administrator for review and approval by the Session. • Undergo regular staff evaluation with the Senior Pastor and Executive Administrator. • Secure all necessary supplies, resources, and equipment. • Attend weekly staff meetings. • Plan, coordinate, and recruit all that is necessary to provide a summer outreach program (VBS). • Implement safety management protocols in the Children’s Ministry. • Update ministry database with parent and children’s information. • Coordinate with Worship Director(s) for on going development of musical worship in the children’s ministry. IV. Other: • This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor and is considered Part-Time (20 Hours a Week). • Maintain regular office hours to be determined with the Executive Administrator and Senior Pastor. • It is recognized that ministry responsibilities may dictate compensatory time and schedule adjustments. • Attend the annual Staff/Session Leadership retreat. • Two weeks vacation will be provided each year. The Children’s director will be responsible for finding necessary leadership during this time. • Salary and benefits will be reviewed each year by Session. V.
