2015 CMEA-SBS Middle School Honor Choir Application
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS THIS FORM INCLUDES UPDATED INFO!
♫♫ Each participating sponsor/school may send balanced TRIOS (SAB) at $150 per trio or
$50/student. Remember, sponsors must have active CMEA Membership. One check per
school should be made payable to CMEA/SBS Honor Choir.
♫♫ Communication will be done through you, the choir director and/or sponsor. Your presence
at the rehearsal and concert is expected and greatly appreciated. If you cannot participate,
you must provide another musically-trained adult in your place.
♫♫ Included in the fee, each student will receive his or her own octavos. However, if teachers
or voice coaches would like their own personal octavos, please include an additional
$20.00.

2015 CMEA-SBS Middle School Honor Choir Participants
Dear Parent or Guardian of ____________________________________,
Congratulations! Your student has been invited to participate in the 2015 CMEA-SBS Honor Choir by his
or her music teacher. This is a wonderful opportunity for each student as they experience advanced
standards in choral singing and share in an always memorable and rewarding event! As the student’s
parent or guardian, please read the following information carefully as it contains important information
concerning participation and performance with the Honor Choir.
FEES: Your student’s fee is_____________. This fee includes original copies of music, rehearsal tracks,
guest director/accompanist, venue fee, honor choir medal, and two meals.

REHEARSAL POLICIES/INFO: IMPORTANT!

Honor Choir members must attend 2 mandatory rehearsals to participate in the concert.
Rehearsals will take place at De Portola Middle School, 11010 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San
Diego, CA 92124 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. REHEARSAL DATES: Thursday February 5th,
Thursday March 5th.

Saturday March 7th day-long rehearsal + concert will begin at 9am at SAN DIEGO STATE
UNIVERSITY MUSIC BUILDING. After lunch, groups will walk to College Ave Baptist for dress
rehearsal/concert. Driving/Parking Directions to follow…

Students are expected to be early so they can be in their seat ready to rehearse at 9:00 a.m.
Students are required to be picked up on time, as there is no supervision for them after the
concert. All transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian except the walk from SDSU
to College Ave Baptist between rehearsal/concert.
BEHAVIOR POLICY/EXPECTATIONS: Each singer is expected to behave courteously to other singers
and adults. They are expected to have their music learned prior to the first rehearsal, act professionally,
exhibit good musicianship skills and stay on task during the entire rehearsal. A singer who does not
exhibit the above WILL NOT be allowed to perform in the final concert and their school will not be allowed
to send students the following year to the CMEA-SBS Middle School Honor Choir.
PERFORMANCE DETAILS:

The concert is Saturday, March 7th in the Sanctuary of College Avenue Baptist Church (4747
College Avenue, San Diego, 92115) at 7:00 pm. Parking is available in the lot off Arosa Street.

This is a dressy event and singers are to bring their concert clothes from their school choir (or
other appropriate performance outfit if the school doesn’t have a uniform) to change into for the
concert. We recommend a garment bag with your name affixed.
♪
Doors will open at 6:30 PM. Audience members should line up outside with their ticket. Tickets
are $5 at the door.

DISTRICT, and THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, their officer, agents, and employees for injury,
