with the support of ASIA-EUROPE FORUM FOR YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHERS 2005 In PARIS, FRANCE, at the MAISON EUROPEENNE DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE CALL FOR APPLICATIONS The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) has run the series of Asia-Europe Forum for Young Photographers since 2002. Each yearly Forum gathers up to 25 young photographers (final year students or young professionals) to follow presentations by experienced photographers, photography editors and managers as well as discussions and workshops. All Forums include a public event (public lectures or exhibitions). Exchange of ideas and experiences, development of professional networks in Asia and Europe as well as interaction with the public, form the dynamism of these Forum. The first forum was held in Singapore in partnership with the European House of Photography of Paris and Singapore Art Museum, as part of the First Month of Photography in Singapore. The focus for the 2003 and 2004 editions, held respectively in Amsterdam and Hanoi, was on photojournalism, in partnership with World Press Photo Foundation (www.asef.org/dir/ce/photos2003 and www.asef.org/dir/ce/photos2004). The Asia-Europe Forum for Young Photographers 2005, to be held at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, France, will focus on young photographers with experiences in organising events related to photography, such as exhibitions, festivals, galleries, etc. The Asia-Europe Forum for Young Photographers 2005 (four days in November 2005) will give the selected participants an insight on the marketing aspects of photography, through the professional visits to galleries and specialized photography salons, as well as lectures on different media to present photography, including books, magazines, films and the Internet. The selected participants will also get the chance to know more about the Month of Photography concept initiated more than twenty years ago by Jean-Luc Monterosso, Director of the European House of Photography of Paris, and to share their experiences in terms of organization of photography related events. What are the selection criteria? - To be below 35 years old and come from an ASEM member country 1 - To have experiences as a photographer (art/plastic photography) - To have experiences in organising events/projects related to photography, such as exhibitions, festivals, galleries events, etc. - To have a good level of English proficiency. - To have an interest in developing projects in Asia and Europe What shall I submit? - A CV including your complete contact details, education and work experiences, both in the field of photography and in organizing events related to photography (not more than 2 pages) - A presentation on one event related to photography you organized, and the other one that you would like to organize in the next two years, if possible with an Asia-European dimension (maximum 10 pages including attached photographs) - A selection of your own photographs, shown in your website or a CD, with comments on your work and its evolution (maximum 2 pages of comments) When and where shall I submit the above documents? - The above documents shall be submitted latest by 15 April 2005 to: Marie Le Sourd (Ms) Project-Manager, Cultural Exchange Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) 31 Heng Mui Keng Terrace Singapore 119595 E-mail: marielesourd@asef.org These documents can be sent by email for applicants with a website.
