Doc: Architect / Engineer Specifications
Model: VX-402 / VX-402REC
Desc: Outdoor PIR Intrusion Detector
Standard model ; VX-402
Voice Warning model ; VX-402REC
The intrusion detector shall operate on the verified intrusion principle using Passive Infrared
(PIR).
OUTPUT AND ENCLOSURE
The detector shall provide the detection, signal processing, alarm relay, and operating
power circuitry in the same enclosure; and shall provide an alarm relay actuation upon the
detection of an intruder moving into or through its protection pattern. The enclosure shall be
ready for wall mounting either outdoor or indoor. It also ready for pole mounting with “Pole
Mount Kit” accessories. The enclosure shall be weatherproof construction rated to IP54
(International Protection Code 54).
The total weight shall be 19.4 oz. (550g)
The detector shall feature each single piece main and sensor electronics boards whose
circuitries are specifically designed for this detector alone, and which have sustained a
substantial “Burn-in” test for several days. The boards shall be mounted to a housing with
covers being secured with screws. The case shall include easy wiring knockout.
LED OPERATION
The detector shall incorporate a single, Red LED to indicate the operating conditions. Red
LED illuminated shall indicate an alarm condition. Red LED not illuminated shall indicate a
non-alarm condition. Red LED blinks shall indicate a warm-up period that shall be
approximately 30 seconds. In addition, VX-402REC’s Red LED indicates that it is under
recording condition. The LED Indicator optionally shall be capable of being disabled using
an On/Off DIP switch.
POWER REQUIREMENT
The detector shall be capable of operating from a DC power source rated within the range of
9.5 – 18 Volts DC. VX-402 shall draw through a normal of 25 milli-Amps (mA) to a maximum
of 28 milli-Amps (mA) at 12 Volts when it is used with N.C. output, or through a normal of 10
milli-Amps (mA) to a maximum of 35 milli-Amps (mA) at 12 Volts DC when it is used with
N.O. output. VX-402REC shall draw through a normal of 25 milli-Amps (mA) to a maximum
of 180 milli-Amps (mA) at 12 Volts when it is used with N.C. output, or through a normal of
12 milli-Amps (mA) to a maximum of 200 milli-Amps (mA) at 12 Volts DC when it is used with
N.O. output.
ALARM OPERATION
A condition of alarm shall occur when PIR alarm condition are met. The Sensitivity shall be
3.6 degree F (2.0 degree C) at 2 ft./sec. (0.6 m/sec.). A sensitivity adjustment shall include
settings of L(Low), M(Middle) and H(High) by a selector switch. The detectable speed shall
be 1 – 5 ft./sec. (0.3 – 1.5m/sec.) the alarm period shall be 2.0 +/- 1 seconds. The alarm
output shall be capable of handling 28 Volts DC, 0.2 Amps (A) maximum, selectable either
N.C. or N.O. output. The detector shall also contain a tamper switch (N.C.) that shall open
when the cover is removed. VX-402REC shall also contain an audible output that shall play
back a pre-recorded sound or messages when it detects an alarm.
The detector shall be selected either 2 or 4 pulses for the “Pulse Count function” to occur an
alarm condition. VX-402REC shall also be controlled either Night Only or Day&Night for the
“DAY / NIGHT mode” by judging brightness, either Armed or Disarmed for “Arm / Disarm
mode” by wired input, and by a number of alarms for “Sequential Message mode”.
The detector shall obtain AUX input to expand the detection area optionally, or to detect in
“Directional Detection Function”. AUX input shall require to be wired a slave detector.
Operation shall be selected either “Directional Detection Function OFF” or “Directional
Detection Function ON” by a select switch. “Directional Detection Function OFF ”; when
either VX-402 / VX-402REC or a slave unit detects someone, the alarm output shall be
activated. “Directional Detection Function ON”; when VX-402 / 402REC and a slave unit
detect someone, in pre-determined turn, the alarm output shall be activated.
To accomplish PIR detection, the detector shall contain a sealed Pyro-Electric element that
shall have a peak in the 10-micro meters region of infrared energy for the detection. The
detector shall achieve high reliable detection performance against false and missed alarms.
SENSOR STABILITY
The detector shall employ originally developed pyro-elements that shall create unique area
configuration with 14 high-density detection zones. By utilizing the AND detection pattern
technology; upper and lower detection areas have to be activated in order to generate an
alarm condition, the detector shall prevent false alarms caused by pet or small animal.
The detector shall automatically increase its sensitivity, especially where the background
temperature ranges from approx. 95 – 98.6 degree F (35 – 37 degree C), close to that of the
human body. It shall be effective for the severe environmental condition such as summer
evening and nights.
The detector shall block the visible light disturbances such as reflected sunlight and RFI by
the patented double conductive shielding.
To guard against false activations caused by RF interference, the detector shall incorporate
RFI Protection capability that cancels 30 Volts/meter RFI noise without any false alarm.
LENS AND DETECTION PATTERN
The detector shall contain a durable and high grade UV resistant Fresnel lens that shall
focus received infrared energy onto the sensor. The detector shall create a maximum 40 x
60 ft. (12 x 18 meters) 90 degree wide detection area, that shall be adjustable within 45
degree for each side. The detection range shall also be selectable from approx. 40 ft. (12
meters) to 6.7 ft. (2 meters) by “Detection Length Adjustment” switch. The detector shall
supply an area masking seal that can be easily attached to limit area eliminate unwanted
detection areas.
The mounting height of the detector shall be between 2.7 and 4 ft. (0.8 – 1.2 meter).
MODEL
The Intrusion Detector shall be model VX-402 or model VX-402REC.
