Program Director Checklist for Hiring Full-time Faculty
Associate Degree Programs
1. Review Full-time Faculty Hiring and Search and Screen Guidelines.

2. Review Full-time Instructional Employment Application(s) (on line).
3. Interview candidate(s), with special review/analysis of:
a. Teaching Discipline and Faculty Credential Requirements June 2006 guidebook;
b. all transcripts evidencing appropriate graduate degree(s) and/or coursework in subject area
(note: coursework within the required degree(s) must reflect competencies of the Major Learning
Objectives in the specific SPC course(s) to be taught);
c. appropriate industry-related work experience, if needed to teach non-transfer courses;
d. verbal interaction during interview to evidence proficiency with oral communication skills;
e. written “Philosophy of Education” statement to evidence proficiency with written communication
skills; and,
f. computer technology proficiency and experience using technology to deliver or support instruction.
4. Conduct reference check(s) using Faculty Reference Questions.
5. Complete Faculty Credential Form.
6. Sign Faculty Credential Form and also obtain Provost signature.
7. Make a copy of all transcripts, Faculty Reference Questions, and Faculty Credential Form for
department office file.
8. Send complete original packet, with all signatures, to Educational & Student Services Credentialing Office
for review. (To save time and prevent document loss, it might be best to hand carry packet for immediate
review.)
9. Once candidate is approved, copies of transcripts, Faculty Reference Questions, and Faculty Credential
Form will be made and filed in E & SS and originals will be hand delivered to HR staff so that an interview
may be set up with the President’s Office.
10. Interview takes place with President’s Office.
11. After interview, HR notifies E & SS of approval/rejection of candidate.
12. HR copies Karen Altieri on email notification once final hire is made.
13. Linda Setala, E & SS Credentialing Office, processes faculty credentials data entry into PeopleSoft and SACS
faculty databases.
Note: in cases of an “Acting” hire, process will be the same. For applicants coming from an A & P, Career
Staff or OPS position to an “Acting” full-time hire, a new Full-time Instructional Staff Employment Application
must be prepared and given to HR at the beginning of this process.
