Revised November 2006 INSTRUCTIONAL POLICY 109.1 INCOMPLETE OR “I” GRADES This policy is needed to motivate the completion of course requirements and the timely change of incomplete “I” grades. 1.1 Incomplete “I” grades may be awarded when a student has attended classes but is unable to complete course requirements due to illness, emergency conditions, or other extenuating circumstances. 1.2 Instructors assign incomplete “I” grades on the official grade sheets which are submitted to the Registrar at the end of a given semester. 1.3 Instructors are to keep a file copy of the student’s signed Incomplete Grade Contract. The Incomplete Grade Contract lists all remaining work to be completed with an expected date of completion. 1.4 Students must complete all work associated with an incomplete “I” grade no later than the end of the following semester or their grade will automatically become an “F”. 1.5 Before the end of the following semester, after the student has completed the necessary work, the instructor will submit to the Dean of Instruction a Change of Grade Form accompanied by a copy of the student’s Incomplete Grade Contract. 1.6 Attachments: Incomplete Grade Contract Change of Grade Form
