Section III – Hazards Identification
Hazard Overview: Combustible Liquid. Irritating to eyes and skin. Toxic by inhalation and in
contact with skin. Toxic by ingestion. (Based on tests with laboratory animals). Inhalation of
high vapor concentrations can cause CNS-depression and narcosis. See also MSDS Section XI.
Section IV – First Aid Measures
Eyes: Flush thoroughly with running water at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if
irritations persist.
Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and wash contact area with soap and water for 15 minutes.
Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. Obtain medical attention. If breathing has stopped,
administer artificial respiration and seek medical attention.
Ingestion: Call a physician or Poison Control Center immediately. Rinse mouth. Never give
anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Wear a self contained breathing apparatus to avoid toxic
fumes. Slippery when wet.
Fire & Explosion Hazards: May react violently or ignite with interhalogens such as chlorine
trifluoride (ClF3) or bromine pentafluoride (BrF5), and incandescently with phosphorus
pentachloride (PCl5).
Closed containers may rupture (due to buildup of pressure) when exposed to extreme heat. Cool
drums exposed to flames with a water spray.
*Additional information will be provided in a medical emergency to qualified medical personnel.
Section VI – Accidental Release Measures
*Stop flow and contain spill by diking, sandbags, etc.
*Eliminate all ignition sources.
*Incinerate using afterburner and scrubber
*Use skin protection (as per section VIII)
*Absorb on inert material and scraps up or shovel into drums
*Observe federal spill and water quality regulations.
Section VII – Handling and Storage
Handling Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or clothing. Avoid breathing vapors.
Wash hands after use. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.
Storage Information: Steel or high density polyethylene (HDPE) container for flammables.
Store away from oxidizers. Store in a cool well ventilated area. Keep from heat, sparks, and
open flames.
