3. Hazards Identification
HEALTH RELATED DATA: Consult 29CFR 1910.1050 for additional information
Primary Route(s) of Entry: Skin contact, eye contact, Inhalation
Specific Hazard(s): Moderately toxic by ingestion
Skin Contact: May cause mild irritation. Symptoms include: redness, yellowing of skin from over-exposure.
Can lead to sensitization.
Eye Contact: May result in severe irritation with pain. Symptoms include: tearing, reddening and swelling
possibly accompanied by a stinging sensation. Can lead to sensitization.
1
Inhalation: Due to very low vapor pressure this product is not normally considered an inhalation hazard. If
product is heated or sprayed it may cause irritation to respiratory tract.
Carcinogenic Information: None of the raw materials used in this product are listed by OSHA, NTP, IARC,
or ACGIH to cause cancer.
4. First Aid Measures
EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
EYE CONTACT: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, preferably lukewarm. After initial flushing,
remove any contact lenses and continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Have eyes examined and treated by
medical personnel.
INHALATION: Remove victim to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration, preferably mouth-tomouth. If breathing is labored, give oxygen. Consult medical personnel.
SKIN CONTACT: Remove contaminated clothing. Launder clothing before re-use. Wash material off the
skin thoroughly with plenty of soap and water. Get medical attention.
INGESTION: Drink 1-2 glasses of water or milk. Induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. Get medical attention.
5. Fire Fighting Measures
FLASH POINT: 340°C (644°F)
METHOD: COC
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water, CO² Foam or dry chemical
FIRE-FIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS: Full emergency equipment with self-contained breathing apparatus and
full protective clothing (turnout gear) should be worn by fire fighters. Burning of this material will result in the
release of toxic fumes.
6. Accidental Release Measures
SPILL/LEAK PROCEDURES: Evacuate nonessential personnel. Remove all sources of ignition and
ventilate the area. Dike or impound spilled material and control further spillage if feasible. Absorb on inert
carrier. Sweep, scrape or vacuum up. Shovel into secure containers for proper disposal. Use personal
protective equipment as outlined above.
7. Handling and Storage
HANDLING PRECAUTIONS: Minimize breathing of vapors and avoid prolonged or repeated contact with
skin. Wear proper protective equipment. If ventilation is not sufficient, wear proper respiratory equipment.
STORAGE REQUIREMENTS: Store tightly sealed and away from sources of direct heat in a dry area.
8. Exposure Controls, Personal Protection
VENTILATION: General mechanical exhaust and local ventilation, or isolation may be needed to keep
airborne concentrations or regulatory hazards within acceptable levels. Effective engineering controls should
be used whenever possible to eliminate or reduce worker exposure to all respiratory hazards.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: In some situations, a respirator may be necessary in addition to ventilation.
The use of a NIOSH-certified or MSHA approved respirator for organic vapors is recommended when the
level of vapors exceeds the TLV or when the level is unknown. See 30CFR part 11.
EYE PROTECTION: Safety glasses, splash goggles or face shield. Contact lenses should not be worn.
SKIN PROTECTION: Check chemical compatibility tables for suitability with this product. Wear only
impervious gloves. Selection will depend upon operation. Neoprene, polyvinyl chloride or nitrile gloves are
recommended for most normal handling operations.
