Dear Homeowners,
This letter is to inform you of the upcoming Quailwood Estates annual homeowner’s association meeting. This meeting
is your opportunity to catch up with the Board of Directors, find out what took place in 2013, and what is planned and
budgeted for 2014. This meeting is also your chance to offer your opinions and discuss items that are important to you,
that you feel the neighborhood as a whole should address.
Please join us:
When: Sunday, November 10th at 6:30 PM
Where: Liberty View Elementary School (Meeting will take place in the cafeteria)
14800 S Greenwood Street
Olathe, KS 66062
If you are not able to make it to the meeting, below is some information on open positions, an update on the
investigation, and information regarding your garbage and recycle cans.
Open Positions
We will have two seats on the board up for election, the President and Vice President of Landscape. We will not be reelecting the current President and Vice President to continue in these roles because they both wish to have someone
else take over their seats. In addition, we have the Architectural and Social committee chairperson positions available.
Listed below is a description of the responsibilities for each of these positions. If you are interested in volunteering or
nominating someone for one of these positions, please contact me at [email protected]
President: Presides over the board, has supervision over, and responsibility for, the business and affairs of the
Association. Enters into and executes in the name of the association contracts, which are authorized by the board.
Vice President of Landscape: Selects and monitors the performance of contractors and vendors retained for the
maintenance and improvement of the common grounds and landscaping.
Architectural Committee: Responsible for reviewing and approving all requests regarding: fences, exterior house color,
decks, basketball goals, flag poles, swimming pools, outdoor hot tubs, dog houses/runs, etc.
Social Committee: Responsible for organizing social activities for the association such as: pool parties, neighborhood
garage sale, meet, and greet, etc.
Garbage and Recycle Cans
As a reminder, storing your garbage and recycle cans in front of your house is a violation of Olathe Municipal code
6.04.050, which states “City provided collection carts shall be removed from the curb as soon after collection of trash as
possible, and no later than 5:00 p.m. the day after the collection day. When not at the curb for collection, the carts cans
must be stored inside the garage or beside the residence.” If you are storing your garbage and/or recycle cans in front
of your house, please move them either inside your garage or beside you house. Thank you in advance for your
cooperation.
Investigation Update
On October 9, 2013, Kerry Hafner was sentenced to 12 months jail and 24 months of probation. He will not serve the
12-month jail time if he is successful on his probation. He will pay us $7,500 up front from the cash bond that he posted.
Starting next month, he will be required to pay a minimum of $200 a month in restitution to us. He is supposed to have
the entire amount of $54,563 paid to us by the end of his probation in 24 months.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
Sincerely,
Tammy Carley
Quailwood Estates Secretary
