Information and Communication Technology Assistant UNICEF México Duty Station: Mexico City Job Level: GS-4 Country: Mexico City Application Close: 13.06.2015 Region: LACR Contract Type: Temporary Appointment (3-6 months) VA/MEX /2015/007 PURPOSE OF THE JOB Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the ICT Assistant has to provide technical, operational and procedural support and end-user services in the implementation, maintenance and improvement of information technology systems, procedures and activities of the office, in accordance with the ICT policies and standards, consistent with the Country Programme Management Plan. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES and DUTIES & TASKS 1. The offices integrated information technology Support the office's information technology needs through seamless integration of UNICEF organizational computer applications (e.g. VISION [SAP]) with specific local office requirements. Perform basic preventive maintenance of servers, desktops, printers, scanners, power supplies and other ICT facilities, as per schedule. 2. Effective customer support Ensure effective customer support in the area of information technology and telecommunications. Provide hardware/software technical support and assistance to all end users, including computer training, troubleshooting and ad-hoc technical assistance. 3. ICT resources management Provide accountability for information technology resources through accurate analysis and evaluation of office’s ICT needs, sound procurement, cost-effective installation and maintenance, upholding software/hardware standards. Maintain regular and accurate inventory of hardware, peripherals and software and share monthly reports with the Operations Manager. 4. The confidentiality, integrity and availability of the ICT system, LAN and data Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the ICT system, LAN and data security, including user access to computer and telecommunications facilities. Monitor and support Inter/Intra-net functionality, security and integrity. Maintain system log files or logbooks. 5. The knowledge management Enhance knowledge management through coordination of office records management including systems for the acquisition, storage and retrieval of data; management of the local database capacity required using standard ICT database. Provide support to ensure the accuracy and accessibility of data sources. 6. Advice on ICT policies and guidelines Advise management and staff on correct interpretation and application of NYHQ ICT policies and guidelines in support of the office's information management needs. 7. Communication and Networking through coordination, collaboration and partnership •Team with other staff in the Operations Section as well as with technical programme staff in the development of local office ICT system requirements and for the resolution of ICT issues. •Install, maintain and administer emergency and security telecommunications including electrical power sources as part of the overall UNICEF BCP. This involves installation and programming of BGAN satellite terminal, Satellite phones, VHF/HF radio systems and emergency power sources. QUALIFICATION and COMPETENCIES 1. Education Completion of secondary school. However, university degree or equivalent background in Computer Science, Information Science Engineering, or related area, is highly desirable. 2.
