Background
The ICT surge capacity is justified by the need to provide effective support to ICT support for
users in all locations at country, zone office levels, ensuring that effective and efficient solutions are
provided to all incidents and queries on ICT operations and services during the absence of Sr ICT
Assistant who is supporting an emergency.
The incumbent is responsible for user support in first and second line support, communicates with
user, escalates incidents from, and maintains documentation on processes, known problems and
procedures. He/She is to manage the ICT assets and keep a structured record of items, to follow
lifecycle of ICT assets. He/She manages switches, access points and bridges of the country office.
Program and install HF, VHF based equipment.
Scope of the assignment
Provide strong helpdesk function in hardware and software support ranging from PC’s and
smartphone to analogue and digital radios and printers. Keep track of loans of equipment and
maintain the ICT equipment database.
II.
Key deliverables for the assignment
1. Provide onsite and offsite support to end users and keep complete documentation and
follows-up on technical issues reported by end users. This includes issues reported on
desktop, laptops and handheld devices.
2. Administer Cisco Switches, bridges and Access points. Assists in technical research and
evaluation of tools and techniques for system and administration.
3. Ensure that all computer equipment and standard operating software are properly installed
and that basic trouble-shooting is being provided to all computer users. Ensures that
assistance is provided in a timely manner in accordance with ICT policies and guidelines.
4. Identifies issues requiring follow-up through additional/advance training, mailing to end user
groups, thus ensuring identification of issues is made based upon incoming calls for help on
recommendation from other team members.
5. Perform telecom routine task as HF/VHF programming and vehicle installation
6. Assist programs in identifying needs for partners in training or equipment.
7. All other duties assigned by supervisor

Profile of the candidate
Madagascar country office is seeking for an internal candidate at GS6 / GS7 level.
a. Academic qualifications



Completion of secondary school. Complementary training on Information Technology,
Telecommunications, or related field, as follows: Theoretical foundations of computer
science, with practical applications of telecommunications and development of voice and data
systems would be an asset
Specialised training in telecommunications technology, management and policy with up-todate coverage of the issues and trends.
Training in: management information systems; data communications and networks, computer
networking, telecommunications management, telecommunications policy and environment

7 years progressive experience , preferably in technical support
Knowledge of windows 7 and windows 8
Language Proficiency
Fluency in French and English both written and oral is required.
IV.
Conditions of the mission
Madagascar country office will bear the travel costs and DSA (50%). The staff member will continue
to receive his/her salary from the sending office during deployment.
