President’s Message
Louisiana Legal
Secretaries, Inc. is a
statewide non-profit
corporation for legal
professionals. L.L.S.I. is
an affiliate of the
national organization
called “Legal Secretaries
International, Inc.” and
provides informative and
educational information
to legal professional, as
well as the tools to
further legal education.
President Bill Clinton said, “Citizen service is the very American idea that we meet
our challenges not as isolated individuals but as members of a true community, with
all of us working together. Our mission is nothing less than to speak a renewed
sense of obligation, a new sense of duty, and a new season of service.”President
Clinton makes a very good point. It is truly a pleasure to serve as your President for
2015. My main priority has always been expansion the membership. Many of our
members have worked hard to help me accomplish this goal. Volunteering your
time and effort keeps LLSI moving forward. I am hoping for a very good turnout at
our Membership Drive on Friday, October 9, 2015 and I look forward to seeing
each of you.
On another note, the United States was fortunate to have Pope Francis visit our
country this past week. I saw Pope John Paul II in New Orleans in September 1987.
I vividly recall waiting in the rain for him to preside over mass. A soon as he
started mass, the sun came out. I won’t ever forget it. Unfortunately, I lost the
ticket stubs in Hurricane Katrina.
Finally, we anxiously wait for the arrival of fall weather, changing of the leaves
along with low humidity and a crisp breeze. Sit back close your eyes and take in all
of the above. The fall transformation is afoot and it is my favorite time of the year!

The LLSI Spring Meeting was hosted by the NLSA and held in Covington,
Louisianaon March 27 & 28, 2015. Our speakers were Frank E. Lamothe, III,
whose very informative topic was “Settlement Negotiations,” and David B. Lawton
who told a most interesting story about the“Tintomara Case.” Ann Winstead from
Safe Harbor picked up the stuffed animals collected for the “Legacy of Love” on
Friday evening and informed us about the Safe Harbor Program. Everyone enjoyed
a wonderful dinner and drinks at Jerk’s Island Grill and Bar, then headed to the
Covington Block Party for some great music and entertainment. After the Board
and General Meetings on Saturday morning, Morton’s Seafood was the setting for a
relaxing and delicious lunch.
The minutes of the Spring Meeting will be distributed to the membership next week.
Don't be afraid to give your best to what
seemingly are small jobs.
Every time you conquer one it makes you
that much stronger.
If you do the little jobs well, the big ones
will tend to take care of themselves.
