Environmental & Natural Resources II Honors Conservation Project You are to design and implement a school or community conservation project. There are four components to this project: Needs Assessment, Public Service Announcement, Plan/Model, and Presentation. 1. First you are to identify a conservation need in your school or community. This can be done by a survey, community needs assessment, or simple observation. Examples include, but not limited to: a. Soil conservation b. Water conservation c. Wildlife conservation d. Recycling projects e. Community action/Environmental education 2. Create a public service announcement highlighting the need in your school or community. In your public service announcement you should include the following: a. A catchy project title b. Logistics: Who, What, When, Where? c. A clear representation of the problem to be addressed d. The importance of the resource 3. Develop a plan to implement your conservation practice a. Develop a multi step plan to implement your conservation practice b. List of materials c. Time frame for project to be completed d. Create a 3D model or replica of your desired conservation practice 4. Present you Conservation Project a. Public Service Announcement The public service announcement is professional, creative, and contains all 4 components: title, logistics, identification of problem, importance of resource. Plan is well thought out and practical. All 4 components are included: well written plan, list of materials, time frame for project completion, 3D model. Presentation is clear, 5 or more minutes in length, and well delivered with no mistakes. The public service announcement contains 3 of the required components. Assessment is somewhat well written and is presented in a somewhat organized fashion with accurate information, there are 3-5 errors. The public service announcement contains 2 of the required components. The public service announcement contains only 1 of the required components. The public service announcement is not well thought out and contains none of the required components. Plan is well thought out and practical. 3 components are included. Plan is thought out. 2 components are included. Plan is poorly thought out. 1 component is included. Plan is poorly thought out and none of the necessary components are included. Presentation is clear, 3-4 minutes in length, and well delivered with 1-2 mistakes. Presentation is delivered effectively in 3 minutes or less with 3-4 mistakes. Presentation is delivered in 2 minutes or less with more than 5 mistakes in delivery. Presentation is poorly delivered in 1 minute or less; a lack of preparation is evident.
