Minimum requirements:

PhD in Analytical Chemistry
Teaching experience in Analytical Chemistry at university level: Associate Professor: six to eight years;
Senior Lecturer: four years
At least four published articles on analytical chemistry in professionally recognised journals
Proven experience of supervision of master’s degree and doctorate students
Research experience in nano chemistry, water-quality monitoring; water purification; synthesis of polymeric
membranes for water purification; development of nano sensors for water-quality monitoring
Ability to design, procure and direct major research projects, act as a team leader and manage scientific
equipment
Ability to teach Analytical Chemistry modules at undergraduate level and to promote work of junior academic
colleagues
Good time-management skills
Good communication skills
Ability to function as a team member
Good administrative and problem-solving skills
The ability to function effectively under pressure
Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual
environments of the NWU
