Supporting the development of informed, reflective and culturally responsive teaching artists. Teaching Artist Training: Student Application Information Deadline to Apply: October 30, 2015 The Teaching Artist Training Program at Young Audiences of San Diego (YASD) is designed to provide artists with the tools necessary to develop their knowledge and practice in the teaching artist field. Teaching artists are practicing artists who engage people in learning experiences in, through, and about the arts. This program will address the various settings in which teaching artists facilitate learning, and will focus on working in and with schools. The training program will include 6-weeks of course work, 5-weeks of observations and planning, 6-weeks of practicum (supervised teaching in the schools), and 1-week of final presentations. Artists from all disciplines (Theatre, Dance, Visual Art, Music, Poetry/Literary Arts) or interdisciplinary artists are welcome to apply. This training is appropriate for professional artists with a variety of levels of teaching experience, including those with no paid experience looking for foundational knowledge; as well as experienced teaching artists looking to enhance or refresh their work. This year YASD is adding an Arts Integration track. We will be accepting 3 students who wish to sharpen their skills in this particular area.
