Also Present: District and County Cllr J Brockway, District Cllr D Cotton
13 members of the public.
30 minute presentation by Trevor Burton and Ian Boon
from Anglian Water.
Firstly Anglian Water informed members that there would be an invitation going out to all residents to invite
them to an open day to discuss individual cases but tonight they would only be giving an overall view of the
application.
The application would consist of a gravity sewer system about ¾ up the hill to the corner pumping station which
will be situated on Woodcoate Lane. The pumping station will be below ground with 2 green units above ground
that will be around 5ft tall. Work starting in September and will continue through to February.
Anglian Water will offer 6 months free sewerage charge and will install the pipe from the pumping station to
personal boundaries.
Questions and Answers?
It was ask by more than one member why they were building a pumping station in Burton Village when none of
the residents had asked for it.
A. Residents were informed that it was asked by the Parish Council in 2007 if mains sewerage could be
put in due to some ceptic tanks leaking.
Residents were informed that if they did not want the pumping station to go ahead they would need to
write individually to Anglian Water.
One member asked why the pumping station had to be located off Woodcoates Lane and why could access not
be gained from Fen Lane instead of using the small lane.
A. Members and residents were informed by a County Councillor that due to land ownership and future
development this area of land was the only one that would be sold with no other access available other
than that off Woodcoates Lane.
