Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture is a non-profit farm and education center located just 25 miles north
of Manhattan in Pocantico Hills, New York. Stone Barns operates an 80-acre four-season farm and is working on
broader initiatives to create a healthy and sustainable food system. Through our farm innovation and
experimentation, Growing Farmers Initiative, children’s education programs, and diverse public awareness
programs, we work to change the way America eats and farms.
Farm Coordinator
Stone Barns Center has an immediate opening for a part-time Farm Coordinator, reporting to the Farm Director.
The Farm Coordinator will provide a broad range of diverse administrative support to the Farm Director and the
farm team at Stone Barns Center. S/he will assist in building and promoting a unified farm culture which links with
the overall organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Provide all administrative support to the Farm Director
o Daily management of appointments, phone calls and scheduling
o Prepare correspondence and memoranda
o Process expenses (invoices and credit card purchases)
o Keep the office running smoothly and efficiently, including processing mail, maintaining office
equipment, ordering supplies and assisting with internal communications
 Provide support for the Farm Director’s work with the Executive Director and the Executive Team
including coordination with the Executive Coordinator
 Provide support for Farm Director’s work with other departments (Programs, Marketing and Philanthropy
and Operations)
 Manage and use the farm sales database to create purchase orders in coordination with Finance
department
 Facilitate farm team meetings by creating agendas, recording key decisions and action items and following
up on next steps
 Coordinate special projects as assigned by the Farm Director
 Assist in the planning and implementation of special events
 Assist staff with day-to-day computer and IT questions/troubleshooting
Required Skills and Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree preferred
 Administrative experience
 Familiarity with sustainable agricultural concepts
 Accuracy and attention to detail
 Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and leadership skills
 Creativity and self-initiative
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 Proven computer and software use skills, especially Microsoft Office
 Ability to do internet research




Ability to be proactive and work independently
Ability take initiative in Farm Director’s absence
Ability to work effectively with others and confidently interact with all levels of staff, trustees and leaders
from other organizations.
Displays sound judgment and high level of discretion in handling confidential information and maintaining
confidentiality of sensitive information
Compensation:
This is an hourly, part-time, non-exempt position averaging 24 hours per week. Hourly rate will be determined
based on skills and experience.
