A Christmas Carol Response
In the story A Christmas Carol, Scrooge is a mean, greedy old man only cares about the money
and not the love, he HATES Christmas and all of this changes in the end of the story. He changes from
greedy to generous and from hating Christmas to having joy and happiness. Now Scrooge will go over his
changes.
Scrooge changes from greedy to generous in the play, A Christmas Carol. At the
beginning, Scrooge was very stingy and greedy by not giving any money for the gentleman visitor and
Bob Cratichet. When the gentleman visitor came and asked for the donation for the poor, Scrooge
shooed him away and told him, “If they would rather die, they had better do it and decrease the surplus
population.” Scrooge never cared for the poor and he never did until the spirits came. After the long
night of spirits, Scrooge changed to a generous gentleman instead of being the greedy old man he was I
the beginning. Scrooge will have never changed if the spirits never showed him what would’ve
happened if the greed stayed within him, him and Tiny Tim would’ve died if Scrooge didn’t change and
Scrooge didn’t want that to happen.
Scrooge hated Christmas and then got some Christmas joy and happiness. In the beginning,
Scrooge had thought that Christmas was for fools and he never has shown any Christmas spirit during
the years. In the beginning of the play Scrooge has said, “Anyone who goes around with ‘Merry
Christmas!’ on their lips should be boiled in their own pudding and should be buried with a stake of holly
through their heart!” Though, after the fifth scene, Scrooge showed joy and happiness. He gave away his
money to the gentleman visitor and to the Cratchet’s to give them a big turkey to eat. All of this
happened because he was very grateful that he had another chance to change for Christmas sake and
Tiny Tim and his own.
What Scrooge learned a lot of things throughout the play and changed. He learned that if he’s
greedy and a mean person, no-one would want to talk to him and be scared. Because of Scrooge’s
greed, everyone was sort of freighted of him and his anger. Another thing Scrooge has learned is that he
should care and give to people in need. As said earlier, Scrooge never wanted to help the poor and he
thought that the poor should die for the decrease of the surplus population. Scrooge changed a lot at
the end; he was very generous and full of joy and happiness!
Now back to the ideas, Scrooge was a man full of greed and zero-spirit. Now he has changed
into a generous man and a man full of spirit! Scrooge was very nice and actually cared for the poor and
the Cratchet’s. He gave his money away and had shown his happiness and joy. Going back to the things
learned, he learned about what would’ve happened if his greed and no spirit kept on and that he should
be nice. The man’s greed showed people that he was a mean man with no generosity and they backed
away from him and didn’t want to be any part with him if he was going to be mean and greedy. He also
knew that he should be nice so he showed the world that he should be nice and caring for the world. By
that, he needs to give donations to the poor, and pay his loyal workers and servants evenly and kindly.
Now that all of these ideas and lessons have been restated, now this is fully completed and Scrooge has
shared all of the things he learned and knew.
