May be required to support selected promotional activities SUMMARY OF ROLE This position will make a substantial contribution to the objectives of RSL Care SA by providing a high standard of leadership and management of retirement living and housing operations resulting in positive experiences for our residents. The role will have responsibility for the operational management of the villages in accordance with statutory requirements including management of the budget, conduct of meetings, and upkeep of buildings. It will contribute to the welfare of residents through effective transitioning of new residents into the villages, being the first point of contact for assistance, subsequent ongoing resident liaison and proactive awareness of resident circumstances where they may require support or care. There are currently 126 units of accommodation in 3 Retirement Village’s located at Myrtle Bank, Marion, and Glengowrie and 4 community housing sites located at Angle Park, Wallaroo, Clovelly Park and Campbelltown. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Management of the retirement villages by: a. Applying a commercial but customer focused approach to resident expectations. b. Fostering positive and respectful relationship with and between residents that result in high levels of satisfaction including the promotion of social, physical and cultural programs. c. Ensuring a smooth transition of new residents into the villages. d. Dealing with resident suggestions, grievances and complaints in professional and timely manner. e. Ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations including reporting and the conduct of resident and resident committee meetings as required under the Retirement Village Act. f. Proactive liaison with sales staff to ensure high levels of occupancy and resale values are achieved. g. Develop and apply RSL Care SA policies and procedures for Retirement Living h. Effective liaison with the caretaking and maintenance staff to ensure that facilities are maintained in accordance with RSL Care SA expectations i. Ensuring all required financial targets are achieved j. Liaison with the finance department on the adequacy of financial controls, delegations and reporting systems. k. l. Liaise with any external contractors as required for the completion and upkeep of maintenance work to all sites under the RSL Care SA brand. Fostering the interests of veterans and ex service community. 2. Management of other accommodation in accordance with obligations under the Residential Tenancy Act and other relevant legislation by a. Fostering the interests of veterans and ex service community. 3. Maintaining a key focus on monitoring resident needs and assisting in coordinating additional services and support as required by : a. Liaising with families, other staff, government agencies, key professionals and support groups to maximise resident outcomes. b. Encouraging residents to maintain independence and provide opportunities for the integration of residents into mainstream community life. 4. Advise senior management on relevant issues that arise in regard to retirement living and community housing operations for RSL Care SA. 5. Consult relevant staff when planning changes, practices, procedures, plant, equipment and substances where these changes may affect the workplace. 6. Assist the Manager, Finance & Administration to prepare, implement and monitor the business plan and budget for all of the sites under RSL Care SA. 7. PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualifications: A tertiary qualification would be highly regarded but not essential for the position. Federal Police Check clearance satisfactory for aged care. Current driver’s licence. Experience: Previous experience in the management of retirement villages in accordance with legislation is essential. Experience in property management and maintenance is essential Experience in developing programs that respond to clients’ fundamental needs will be highly regarded. Knowledge: Understanding of the Retirement Village Act and the Residential Tenancies Act is essential. Knowledge of the Aged Care sector will be highly regarded. Familiarity with the environment for serving and former defence force personnel and their families will also be highly regarded.
