Dear Parents: Emily Brittain School is getting ready to hold its annual “HOP for Leukemia.” Over the past 13 years, Emily Brittain has donated more than $90,000 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)! The LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to the funding of cutting edge treatments for blood cancers. This year, your child has the opportunity to assist our K-4 students with their “HOP.” From March 9th-20th, students in the Secondary Schools will have the opportunity to purchase a “HOP” card. “HOP” cards will be available during lunch for $1.00 per card. The student’s name will be added to the card and then displayed within the school. This year’s “HOP” Hometown Hero is Kolton Trump. Kolton is a brave teenager who was recently diagnosed with and undergoing treatment for Leukemia. He began his education in my Kindergarten classroom and is presently an eighth-grader at the Butler Area Junior High School. His family and friends are thrilled to have their loved-one as our Hometown Hero and look forward to actively supporting our efforts. The money raised in honor of Kolton will help fund the Society’s programs of Patient Aid, Research and Education. Last year’s donation of $11,000.00 was outstanding! We look forward to having another highly successful “HOP” by also seeking the support of the Butler Area’s Secondary Schools and local businesses. Leukemia is the #1 disease killer of children. Let us get our healthy children involved by assisting those in finding a cure for this deadly disease. Please view http://llssomedayistoday.org/. Thank you in advance for your support!
