WEEKLY PEARLAND AQUATICS UPDATE: December 2 – December 8, 2013
Practice changes for this week:



We will follow the normal team practice schedule for this week December 2-8, except for the following changes
on Friday and Saturday December 6th and 7th (Due to Fall Champs which will be hosted by CFSC at the
Natatorium). (Link to Team Practice Schedule).
 Gold, HS Group, and Silver Boys & Girls who will not be swimming in Gulf Fall Champs will swim from
5:30-7:30 pm at Manvel High School Friday December 6th.
 The only groups that will practice on Saturday December 6th are as follows at Manvel High School:
 6:30-8:30 am - Only swimmers qualified and participating in Gulf Age Group Champs. All others
should be at Fall Champs.
 8:30-9:30 am – Only swimmers participating in 8 & Under Champs. All others should be at Fall
Champs.
We will follow the schedule below for the week of December 9-15.
1. Gold:
 Will practice from 4:30-6:30 pm at the Nat on Tuesday, December 10th.
2. Silver Girls & Bronze:
 No practice on Tuesday, December 10th. Instead they will practice on Thursday, December
12th from 6:15-8:00 pm at Manvel High School.
3. Racers:
 Will practice from 6:45-7:45 pm at Manvel High School on Thursday, December 12th.
4. Pre-Competitive 1
 Will practice from 6:00-6:45 pm at the Nat on Tuesday, December 10th.
5. Pre-Competitive 2 at the Natatorium (Pre-Comp 2 at Manvel will not change)
 Will practice from 6:45-7:45 pm at the Nat on Tuesday, December 10th.
The only groups that will practice Saturday December 14th are the following at Manvel High School:
 6:30 - 8:30 am – Gold and Silver
 8:30 -10:00 am High School Group, Bronze and Blue

PEAK had 84 swimmers participate in the Gulf Open Meet hosted by SPA November 16-17, 2013. To view the full meet

Team Highlight : This week we would like to highlight the PEAK Giving Tree Project.
The holidays are upon us and it’s time for PEAK’s Annual Giving Tree Project! PEAK has adopted a family that is
registered with the “Santa Helpers Pearland Community Christmas Assistance Program” through the Pearland
Neighborhood Center. Instead of ornaments, this year (since our shopping period between Thanksgiving & Christmas is
shorter) the project will be set up like a Job Sign-up under the Meets/Events tab on the PEAK website. Please consider
signing up to donate a gift and take advantage of the opportunity to help a family in need this holiday season. This is a
great way for our swim team to assist a local family in our community, but please do not feel obligated. Also, this project
does not qualify for volunteer/service hours even though Team Unify shows an amount. The majority of items listed are in
the $20-25 or less range and include toys, clothes, shoes, stocking stuffers, and Kroger gift cards. However, there are (2)
bicycles that were on the kids’ wish list if you would like to get together with another family and split the cost. I have
included detailed descriptions of items that the kids have put on their wish lists so please read the notes attached to
each. Make sure the gifts you consider are age appropriate (not too young for the child and not too old) and include a gift
receipt if possible. Once you have purchased a gift, please bring it, unwrapped, to me at the Natatorium. I am at the Nat
Monday - Friday and Manvel on Saturday mornings. If you need to make other arrangements for the delivery of
donations, please feel free to email me. I hope to have a Manvel contact person to collect gifts there as well soon. The
deadline for donations is Tuesday, December 17th.
