Description of the role The Information Management & Technology Group (IMT) provides and manages the delivery of high availability and high quality Information and Communications Technology services to the Department of Social Services. Activities include but are not limited to: ICT applications development and support; Database administration & development; Research and data services; Corporate ICT system support ICT business support; ICT Business Analysis and Project Management; Reporting standards and management reporting for programmes; and ICT operational, desktop and infrastructure services. Desirable Ideally you will have relevant qualifications, and/or demonstrated experience in the ICT industry. Broad knowledge of department’s systems functionality and the department’s business and operations. Knowledge of system current industry-accepted hardware and software products including general features and capabilities, and industry standards for usability and accessibility. Detailed understanding of following: Project management practices and methodologies; Quality management principles and how they are applied when managing projects and programmes; Risk management principles and how they are applied when managing projects and programmes; and Internal and external governance requirements that may impact on the project or programme and/or outcomes. Detailed understanding of system testing, including: The software development lifecycle; Test tools and Testing of Information Technology solutions; Testing concepts, principals and methodologies; and Departmental test methodologies, strategies, policies and procedures. Knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools and current industry systems development methodologies (SDMs) and broad knowledge of relevant local SDM. Detailed knowledge of vendor product direction, organisational policies on internal and external client relationships and the role of stakeholders and the degree of stakeholder involvement. Detailed knowledge of current industry system development methodologies, platforms and applications and relevant sections of legislation relating to recordkeeping e.g. Archives Act 1983, Privacy Act 1988 and the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
