Study Skills Class

The goals of this class are to:
-Meet each students individual educational plan (IEP) goals
-Assist students in learning to use tools to assist with study skills
- Provide study skills and social skills instruction as needed
-Assist students with classroom work
-Provide a structured learning environment to promote academic success
-Develop an understand of each student’s IEP
This is a graded course. You are expected to:
1. Fill out your planner
2. Check Skyward grading program
3. Prioritize work to be done
4. Have your planner checked by an adult
5. Work on homework/study for tests/read independently
6. Bring a reading book everyday
7. Do any assignments given
8. Participate in discussions
9. Participate in study groups
10. Complete and turn in weekly time sheet
***This is a class, not just a studyhall*** While the majority of the time will be allotted for
working on assignments there will be weekly mini-lessons on study skills strategies and IEP
Awareness. This is a graded class that counts towards your grade point average.
In addition to the school rules, which are outlined in the student handbook, these classroom rules
are to be followed.
Classroom rules
1. Come to school ready to learn
- be on time
- have materials ready
- have a positive attitude
2. Respect people, property and yourself
- talk nicely (“put-ups” not “put-downs”)
- use good manners
- keep hands feet and objects to yourself
- respect the teachers right to teach and each students right to learn
3. Follow Directions
- Follow directions the first time given
