Child Sexual Exploitation community awareness raising programme ‘Say something if you see something’ The Children, Young People and Families Consortium is running a child sexual exploitation (CSE) community awareness programme in Rotherham. We will deliver awareness raising sessions for parents, carers and community members across the borough. We plan to deliver sessions to at least 400 individuals and will share details of a free online training programme that you can share with friends and family. We are also running a conference with voluntary sector organisations that will help us to cascade key messages into the community on 5 November 2014. Community members attending these sessions will learn about what factors can make a child or young person more at risk of child sexual exploitation, the signs to look out for, and what to do if they are concerned and would like to help. This programme has been developed by a CSE expert for the Consortium in consultation with voluntary organisations and the Rotherham Local Children Safeguarding Board. About us We represent approximately 30 of the main voluntary sector providers of services to children, young people and families in Rotherham. This includes small, medium and large voluntary sector providers with a combined workforce of over 1,000 (paid and Issue date: October 2014 unpaid). Together we work with around 16,000 children, young people and families in our borough. Safeguarding is one of our members’ core priorities. We run the voluntary sector child sexual exploitation forum, operate the voluntary sector safeguarding group ‘Safe and Well’ where voluntary organisations come together to discuss practical issues and develop their work, and are a member of Rotherham’s Local Children Safeguarding Board. Programme delivery Consortium member organisation Sheffield YWCA (Fleming Gardens) will deliver the awareness-raising sessions on behalf of the Consortium from October 2014 to March 2015. This organisation has experience of CSE training, and will support our work to train additional organisations to deliver this work post March 2015. This work is funded by the Safer Rotherham Partnership. Contact information Would you like to talk to us about holding a session at your community event or meeting?
