WHEREAS: Student Senate is elected by the Student Body to represent and voice the opinions
of students; and
WHEREAS: Student Senate is a means by which student concerns are addressed; and
WHEREAS: Brothers Under Christ is hosting its 10th annual Island Party, an event that is
designed to reach out to the Baylor University family and the Waco community.
Island Party is occurring this year in conjunction with Baylor’s Fall Premiere on
September 24 at 6:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS: Fall Premiere will be a two-day event, and Island Party will be the featured event
for Friday evening; and
WHEREAS: The event is free and open to the entire community. Island Party 2008 drew an
estimated crowd of 7,000, and this year’s projected attendance is approximately
8,000; and
WHEREAS: Island Party will give prospective students a positive first impression of Baylor;
and
WHEREAS: The concert will benefit Mission Waco, a local charity. BYX intends to provide a
monetary donation and collect personal hygiene items for Mission Waco’s many
programs; and
WHEREAS: This year’s Island Party will feature Tenth Avenue North, an internationally
recognized Christian band. They have just released their second album, entitled
“The Light Meets the Dark;” and
WHEREAS: Island Party will also feature Addison Road, Baylor-formed Christian group; Matt
Maher, an internationally recognized Christian artist; and Gatlin Elms, a local
music group; and
WHEREAS: Brothers Under Christ will advertise the event in a variety of ways to include
current Baylor students, prospective Baylor students, and members of the Waco
community, including community newspaper advertisements, radio
advertisements, Fall Premiere registration, and several other formats; and
WHEREAS: The budget for hosting the 2010 BYX Island Party is:

Be it resolved by the 58th Legislative Session of the Baylor University Student
Senate assembled that $12,619.40 be allocated from the Student Government
Allocation Fund (SGAF) to Brothers Under Christ for the purpose of funding
sound and lighting, band hotels and Tenth Avenue North, Addison Road, Matt
Maher.
Furthermore: Any unused money from the SGAF will be returned to the SGAF in an expedient
manner.
Furthermore: The SGAF will be given due recognition at the event per SGAF Branding
Requirements.
Furthermore: Brothers Under Christ will meet with the Attorney General within seven business
days after the event.
Furthermore: Brothers Under Christ cordially invite all members of Student Government to
attend the 2010 Island Party on Friday, September 24, 2010.
