Seeking Interviewees for a Research Study Dr Nadia Wager – Reader in Psychology, University of Bedfordshire I am seeking volunteers to take part in an interview study exploring peoples’ experiences of unwanted sexual experiences across the life-span. The objective of the study is to understand why some individuals who have experienced sexual violations during childhood are subsequently sexually assaulted in later-life, by different offenders. This phenomenon is known as sexual revictimisation. The overall aim of the study is to help inform the development of more effective interventions to prevent the reoccurrence of repeated incidents of unwanted sexual experiences. Whilst the study is exploring sexual revictimisation, it is important for me to include the experiences of people who have experienced single incidents of sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a single perpetrator. The topics discussed will include your coping strategies across time, your memory for the incident(s) and your experiences of telling others about the incident(s). The interviews can be conducted in any way that you would feel most comfortable. You may choose to be interviewed by either a male or female researcher. The interviews could be conducted face-to-face in a private location, on campus or in your own home, by telephone, over the internet using Skype (either with or without web cam) or through an email conversation. Similarly, the interviews can be arranged at a time that is convenient to you. It is envisaged that most interviews of this nature would last at least an hour, or though they may take longer – the duration will be in your hands. You may even feel that you prefer to talk on several occasions rather conducting the whole interview in one sitting. Again this would be your choice. If you think you might be interested in taking part, please email Nadia (nadia.wager@beds.ac.uk) for further information or to arrange to chat further about the study on the telephone. If you would like to see a brief overview of the research conducted by me (Nadia) you can access my blog @ https://researchingsexualrevictimisation.wordpress.com
