The plan of action chalked out by the Principal and the members of Advisory Committee in the
beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year,
the college has been trying to ensure quality education for the students and also working towards the
all round development of students and society.
To achieve the goals, following aspects were considerably stressed by the Principal & the members of
Advisory Committee:

To allow faculty members to attend Seminars / Workshops and Refresher Courses.

Introduction of skill oriented course like Computer Literacy and Communicative English.

Restart of Course BCA

Introduction of New Course BIM

Organizing Seminars sponsored by UGC, DGHE and ICSSR.

Meaningful engagement by NSS & NCC units in community services.

Organizing Career Counseling Programmes.
Remarkable success has been achieved in all the areas as clear from Part B of the Annual Report.

1. ACTIVITIES REFLECTING THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTION:
The vision of the College is to contribute towards the creation of a tolerant, equitable, enlightened
and humane society through holistic education and other co-curricular activities. The college has
formulated goals and objectives through which all its activities throughout the year have been
oriented.
With this view in mind we tried our best to engage ourselves in Seminars to give an intensive and
extensive effort for the progress. The College organized a number of Seminars in academic fields
and social needs. During the session 2008-09, the College organized three Seminars, various
Extension Lectures and Two Workshops on various subjects mentioned in under point (8) Part-B.
The College organized Career Counseling Programmes time to time during the session 2008-09.
The eminent personalities: Prof. Randhir Singh, Director, JMIT, Radaur, Prof. Bhim. S.Dahiya ,
Former Vice Chancellor, KUK, Prof. Abhai Maurya, Vice Chancellor, English & Foreign
Languages, Hyderabad, Prof. R.W. Desai, Former Prof, Delhi University, Prof. P.D. Sharma, ExChairperson KUK, visited our college for the purpose to develop a system for conscious,
consistent & catalytic actions to improve the academic and administrative performance of the
Institution. Women and Child Welfare Dept, Haryana and Women Cell of the College celebrated
Breast Feeding Day on 1 August 2008.. Women cell organized Food Safety and Quality Day on 16
October 2008. National level Declamation Contest, Quiz Contest, Poster making, Collage Making
Contest and Educational Trips were organized by various Dept. Annual Blood Donation Camp was
organized on 27 November 2008 by Red Cross Dept. and about 60 units blood collected through
this Blood Donation Camp. Talent Show is organized every year in the college to search and
promote the hidden talent in the students.
2. NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMME INITIATED :
The College introduced BIM (Bachelor of Information Management) and restart the course BCA
(Bachelor of Computer Application) during the academic session 2008-09. The College has
applied for PGDCA, B.A. with Computer Science and P.G. Diploma in Yoga to Kurukshetra
University, Kurukshetra.
3. INNOVATIONS IN CURRICULAR DESIGN AND TRANSACTIONS :
The College has seldom any freedom for curricular design. Because of an affiliated College under
the University of Kurukshetra, it has to follow the syllabus framed by Undergraduate Board of

Studies of different subjects of the University. However, our College with its limited scope has
introduced three courses – English Speaking, Hobby Classes such as Interior Decoration, Painting,
Floral Decoration, Glass Painting, Block Painting and Computer Literacy.
4. INTERDISCIPLINARY PROGRAMME STARTED :
The interdisciplinary approach to teaching has been successfully adapted by our Institution.

The Environmental Studies Programme which is mandatory for all 1st year students is
managed by the teaching staff of Botany, Zoology, Biotech and Home Science.
5. EXAMINATION REFORMS IMPLEMENTED :
University conducts the final examinations for the students of B.A.-1/ B.Sc.-1/B.Com.-1/B.A.II/B.Sc.-11/B.Com.-II and B.A.-III/B.Sc.-III /B.Com-III. There isn’t any scope to make
examination
reforms. However during 2008-09, the College introduced practice of conducting
Class Tests and House Test Examination for all the students.
6. CANDIDATES QUALIFIED NET/SET/GATE/SSC/PSC :
Our
College
is
undergraduate
College
so
we
have
no
information
regarding
NET/SET/GATE/SSC/PSC cleared candidates.
7. INITIATIVE TOWARDS FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME :
The College feels that without Faculty development, the development in Higher Education is
impossible. During the session 2008-09, our college encouraged Faculty Development Programme
through: Allowing teachers to attend Orientation Programme/ Refresher Courses
 Permitting teachers to attend Seminars & Workshop, organized by other academic
Institutions.
 Organizing Seminar in the College.
 Encouraging the Faculty to take up Research Project.

18. COMMUNITY SERVICE :

NSS ACTIVITIES: First one day camp was organized on 23 September 2008. In this camp NSS volunteers
worked for the beautification of college and planted various plants.
 Ten days camp i.e from 26 September 2008 to 05 October 2008 was organized and a
number of activities were performed by NSS unit. This camp was inaugurated by Dr.
(Mrs.) Ujjwal Sharma, Principal of College.
1. A medical camp was organized by Navjeevan Sansthan on 28 September 2008 in
College Campus for Senior Citizens from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Our NSS Volunteers
made all sitting arrangements and also helped the doctors in the registration of patients.
2. On 29 September 2008 girls visited to Bhatoli Village and cleaned Shiv Mandir there.
3. A lecture by Mrs. Anju Vajpayee on Women Empowerment was organized on 30
September 2008.
4. On Ist October, Miss. Shivani, lecturer Hindu Girls College, explained the benefits of
accu-pressure. Dr. Sanju Jindal a well known Doctor from Jindal Hospital delivered a
lecture on the Common Problems of girls on the same day.
5. On 2nd October, A lecture by Mr. Rakesh on Human Rights was organized. On same
day, in after noon a lecture delivered by Dr. Divya Mangala on Mental problems like
tension, anxiety etc.
6. A survey was also conducted by NSS volunteers about literacy, Female Foeticide and
awareness about AIDS in the village. After the survey Mrs. Suman Gakhar Incharge of
Women Cell, made village women aware about proper diet.

7. Besides this NSS volunteers worked for the cleanliness and beautification of the college
campus. The volunteers planted 275 plants. During these days Mrs. Anupama Gupta
and Mrs. Rita lectures of this college trained the students about embroidery and making
products from waste material.
8. A trip of NSS volunteers to Chandigarh, Pinjore was organized on 19 October 2008.
Valedictory function was held on 5th October 2008. An exhibition of stuffed toys &
handicrafts was organized. Mr. Dilip Chand, President of the College was the Chief Guest
of the day. He appreciated NSS volunteers for their creativity during the camp and he also
motivated the students for future.

Malaria Awareness Program:
30 NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically in Malaria Awareness Programme
organized by Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar. This camp organized from 13,14 &15 August.
The survey was conducted in the various areas of Yamunanagar.
 Pulse Polio Participation:
Near about 40 NSS Volunteers participated in intensified Pulse Polio Programme
organized by Civil Hospital, Jagadhri from 14 September 2008 to 16 September 2008. In
this Programme the Volunteers were trained so that they help the needy.
 Food Safety & Quality Day:
Food Safety and Quality Day was organized on 16 October 2008 by NSS & Women Cell
of the College.
 Participation in Declamation:
Our two students Neha Jain of B.Com III and Shobha of B.Com II took part in
Declamation Function organized by NSS unit of S.D. College, Lahore, Ambala Cantt.
 Participation in Blood Donation Camp:
Blood Donation Camp was organized by our College in 27 November 2008. Our NSS
Volunteers participated enthusiastically in this Camp. They cleaned the College campus
and physics lab for blood donors. They also distributed refreshments to the blood donors.

2nd One Day Camp:
One day NSS Camp was organized on 26 November to clean the campus and Physics lab
for Blood Donation Camp. They made all necessary arrangements for doctors & blood
donors.
 Programme By Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan:
10 NSS students attended the programe organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan at
M.L.N. College, Yamunanagar.
 2nd Pulse Polio Participation:
38 NSS volunteers participated in Pulse Polio Programme organized by Civil Hospital,
Jagadhri. This programme organized on Ist February. Our Volunteers helped the doctors by
mobilizing the children from their homes.
 3rd One Day Camp:
One day NSS Camp was organized on 08 February 2009 to clean the campus for Annual
Day Function. They painted all pots and made all necessary arrangements for function.
 Election Duty:
10 NSS volunteers were selected for election duty in April 2009`

NCC ACTIVITIES:
1. 2 cadets attended All India Girls Trekking Expedition at Shimla from 5 June to 18 June
2008.
2. 35 cadets attended CATC Camp at Tejli from 21 July to 30 July 2008.
3. 5 cadets attended TSC Camp at Jind from 20 August to 29 August 2008.
4. 2 cadets attended NIC Camp at Pataudi from 17 November to 29 November 2008.
5. 26 cadets attended CATC Camp at Tejli from 24 November to 03 December2008 under
the guidance of Ms. Sonia Sharma, Care-taker.
6. 1 cadet attended NIC Camp at Kerala from 17 December to 31 December 2008.
7. 32 cadets appeared in ‘B’ Certificate Exam and 17 cadets appeared in ‘C’ Certificate
Exam in February 2008.

9. S.V.O Pallavi selected and attended All India Coaching Camp at Gwalior WOTS
(Women Officer Training School) in June 08.

11. 53 cadets visited Kurukshetra and surrounding historical places on 21 September 2008.
12. Three cadets attended TSC Camp in Kurukshetra from 16 June 2009 to 25 June 2009.
13. One cadet ,Ms Sandeep attended TSC in Karnal from 3 August 2009 to 13 August
2009.
14. Five cadets selected for Parade on Independence Day at Tejli,YNR.
15. 34 cadets attended CATC camp at Tejli,YNR from 27 August 2009 to 7 September
2009.
16. UO Sandeep attended TSC at Tejli,YNR from 27th August to 11th September 2009.

WOMEN CELL ACTIVITIES & LEGAL CELL ACTIVITIES:
1) Women and Child Welfare Dept. Haryana & Women Cell of College celebrated Breast
Feeding Day on 1st August,2008.Mrs. Saroj Choudhry w/o Mr.Narinder Singh ADC YNR. was
the Chief Guest.Mrs. Kamlesh Gautam Programme Officer ICDS YNR. talked about the
importance of Breast Feeding. Mrs. Suman Gakhar delivered a lecture on the topic “Scientific
Aspect of Breast Feeding”. Many supervisors from different parts of Haryana expressed their
views on Breast Feeding.An exhibition of cooked weaving food items & posters related to the
topic was also organized.
2) Incharge of Women Cell delivered a Lecture on Diet for lactating mothers organized by ICDS
Jagadhri in Yoga Hall YNR on 9 August 2008.
3) During NSS camp in village Bhatoli Mrs. Suman Gakhar taught Nutritious recipies for
Lactating mothers & young children & students of the college on 3rd October 2008.
4) ‘Food Safety & Quality Day’ was celebrated by Women Cell & NSS unit of the College on 16
October 2008. Series of lectures were arranged for the students. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ujjwal
Sharma delivered a lecture on Personality Development. Mrs. Suman Gakhar elaborated the
concept of Health Adulteration in Food items& Govt. Acts for quality control. Dr. (Mrs.)
Ranjana Raina, Lecturer in Home Science explained how one can enhance of nutritive value of
different food items.
5) Two students participated in State Level Essay Writing Contest organized by Women Cell of
Dyal Singh College, Karnal on 15 November 2008. Gorakhsh, Neha & Sakshi of B.A -III got
2nd prize of Rs. 200.

6) Three entries of essay regarding women issues were sent to Arya P.G College Panipat on 18
November 2008.
7) State Level Declamation Contest and Zonal Level Competitions in different items like Poster
Making, Slogan Writing, Best out of Waste, Collage Making, Rangoli, Salad Dressing &
Mehndi.10 students from each College participated in different items. Nancy of B.Com II &
Sandeep of B.A II got 1st and consolation prize respectively in Mehandi Competition organised
by Women Cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, YNR on 18 November 2008.
8) 17 students participated in different competitions organised by Women Cell of MLN College
YNR on 22 November 2008. Sandeep of B.A II got 1st prize in Mehndi. Nancy of B.com II got
consolation prize in Mehndi. Vandna of BHSC II got 2nd prize in Salad Dressing. Sakshi of
BHSC I got 3rd prize in Best out of Waste, Nidhi of BHSC III got 1st prize in Flower
Arrangement, Priya of BHSC II got 2nd prize in Flower Arrangement, Meenu of BHSC II got
consolation prize in Pot Painting, Sonam of B.com II got 2nd prize in Essay Writing, Shobha of
B.com II got 2nd prize in Slogan Writing.
9) 5 students participated in outer College Poetic Recitation, Debate and Sketch Making
Competition on “Female Foeticide” organised in Arya Girls College, Ambala Cantt. on 17th
January 2008.Aditi of B.Sc. Biotech III got consolation prize in debate.
10) Legal Cell of Hindu Girls College under Micro Legal literacy Scheme organized Micro Legal
literacy Camp on 17th January 2008. Mrs. Parminder Kaur, Judge, District Court, Jagadhri was
the main speaker. She told the students about marriage laws and girls’ right to education. Sh.
Jile Singh, Advocate, Present District Bar Association, Jagadhri explained the legal provisions
regarding women and children. Sh. Angrish Sharma, Advocate told the girls about property
rights.
11) Women cell & Economics Dept. of Maharaja Agrasen College organised different
competitions on 7 February 2009. Priyanka of BHSC II got 1st prize in Pot Decoration, Hoor
Bano of BHSC III got 2nd prize in Flower Arrangement, Shivani of BHSC II got consolation in
Best out of Waste, Meenu of BHSC II got consolation in Mehandi, Sapan of B.s c(comp.sc.)
got consolation in Declamation Contest on Women Issues.
12) Shilpi of B.com 2nd got 2nd prize in Declamation Contest on Female Foeticide organized by
Om Institute on 13 February 2009.
13) Women Cell of college organized Inter-college Poster-Making and Slogan Writing
Competition on Female Foeticide on 27 February 2009. 25 students from different colleges
participated in the competitions.

organized by Women Research and Development cell, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Karnal.

Office: The Office of Hindu Girls College is fully computerized. The Admission, PF
Account, Ledger-Posting, disbursement of Salary, Book-keeping, Pay-pocket Claim and Office
Documents are being done by computer.
Admission: The entire admission system is fully computerized and the process is transparent.
The data of all the students selected for admission are saved in
computers for time to time
analysis.
Result: The University conducts examinations annually (I,II,III Year) as well as Semester
wise (Semester I,II,III,IV,V,VI) and issue results in the corresponding semesters/year. The
University issues the Degrees after the completion of final year.

27. TECHNOLOGY UPGRADATION :
The computer networking has been established in two Computer Labs and the internet facility
(Broadband) has been provided to these labs. Latest softwares, related to the curriculum are
installed in the Computer Labs. The College has its own website and all the related information
regarding the College has been provided on the Website i.e (www. hgcjagadhri.com).

28. COMPUTER AND INTERNET ACCESS AND TRAINING TO TEACHERS AND
STUDENTS :
With the financial assistance from management , the College provided Internet facility to
teachers and students. They regularly utilize the facility to improve their quality of teaching &
learning. College facilitates the use of computers in classrooms for the faculty and students.

3. Selected girls from Distt. John Ambulance First Aid Brigade participated in State John
Ambulance First Aid Competition and performed well at Rohtak on 24 October 2008.
4. Organized inter faculty Slogan Competition on Blood Donation about 50 students
participated in Slogan Competition and the Trophy won by Arts Faculty on 25 November

8. Organized seminar on Female Foeticide. Dr. Ravi Gupta Lecturer R.K.S.D College Kaithal
delivered a lecture. Mr. Harish Jain S.D.M, Jagadhri, was the Chief Guest of the Seminar.


Participated in inter-college Malkhamb competition & team secured 3rd position in
KUK. Km. Swarna got individual 3rd position in KUK on 12 October 2008.

Km.Himani & Km.Sunita represented YNR. Distt. for State Netball Competition at
Karnal & got 2nd position in Haryana on 24.October 2008.

Km. Sunita, Km. Pooja, Km. Priyanka participated in State Women Festival in
Basketball at Hisar and reached upto Zonal Final on 02 November 2008.

Km. Swarna & Km. Vandana represented KUK for All India Inter University
Malkhambh on 04 November 2008.

Participated in KUK Inter College Basketball won 2 matches and reached upto
Zonal Final on 16 December 2008.

Our College Netball Team got 3rd position in KUK Inter College Netball on 21
December 2008.

Our college Yoga Team got 2nd position in KUK on 25 February 2009.

36. ACTIVITIES OF THE GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING UNIT :
Workshops on Career Counseling and Personality Development was organized by the Carrier
Guidance Committee on 15 January 2009. Mr. Sarauv from Bullseye, Chandigarh guided the
students to choose their career from many options. Students were enlightened by his way of
expression and his simple method of convincing. He encouraged the students to opt for MBS
course. Students also actively participated in debate and discussion and enquired about the
entrance test, good institutions to take admission and also about the fee structure & Mr.Saurav
also eased them by telling that the money spent on this course can be financed by almost all the
banks in India.

EXTENSION LECTURES
1. Dr.(Ms) Geeta Goyal Lecturer in English, RKSD College, Kaithal gave a captivating
Extension Lecture on “Robert Frost” to the Post Graduate students on 21 February 2009.
2. Mrs. Seema Gupta delivered an Extension Lecture at Institute of Business Mgt. & Technology,
Kalawad on 14 March 2009.The topic was “Tax planning in India in Present Scenario”.
3. Two days Extension Lecture was organized on. “Special Needs of Children” in the month on
February 2008 by Dr. Anju Bajpai, Director of “UTTHAN”, Yamuna Nagar.
4. On 1 September 2008, an Extension Lecture was delivered by Prof. P.D Sharma, ExChairperson KUK on the topic “Effects of Caste on the politics of Haryana” for B.A II
students. He highlighted the impact of caste in selecting the candidates, formation of cabinet
even selecting public servant.
5. Ms. Ekta Anand & Ms. Anuradha delivered lecture on the topic “Female Foeticide”, to
pregnant women and lactating mother in January 2008.
