Ingestion: This product has a low order of acute oral toxicity based on animal data.
Chronic Health Hazard: This product can hydrolyze to form a material posing additional health
affects.
Among them are: Methanol: OSHA PEL: TWA 200 ppm (Skin)
ACGIH TLV: TWA 200ppm, STEL 250 ppm (skin).
 Absorption through the skin is possible and can cause nausea, headache, and general
discomfort.
 Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause adverse eye effects such as conjunctivitis or
corneal damage, and skin effects such as defatting, rash or corrosion.
 Contact causes moderate skin irritation and dryness (defatting), itching and/or rash.
 Inhalation of vapors may cause cyanosis, lethargy, loss of consciousness and death.
 Ingestion may cause malaise, discomfort and death if not treated promptly.
 Causes moderate eye irritation with transient redness and discomfort.
 The effects from inhalation may be delayed.
 Methanol is toxic by inhalation or ingestion.

4 – SAFETY INFORMATION AND SAFETY MEASURES – FIRST AID
 General Advice: Remove contaminated or saturated clothing.
 Inhalation: If Aerosol or mists are formed: Take affected persons out into fresh air.
In case of persistent discomfort. Supply with medical care.
 Eye contact: Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water keeping eyelids open. In case of
persistent discomfort consult an ophthalmologist.
 Skin contact: Wash off immediately with plenty of water.

Procedures of personal precautions – Avoid Contact with skin and eyes. Wear respirator,
chemical safety goggles, rubber boots, and heavy rubber gloves. Use all approved personal
protective equipment.

Do not contaminate any lakes, streams, ponds, groundwater or soil.

Other Effects of Overexposure: Inhalation of ethylene amines may cause sensitization of the
respitory tract and the development of an asthmatic reaction on further exposure. There may be
susceptible (*) individuals who develop long term hyperactive airways, asthma and other respitory
injury following exposure to extremely low concentrations of ethylene amines, even below the
irritation threshold. Other respitory irritants may produce a reaction in individuals whose airways
have become hyper reactive.
Long term repeated overexposure to methanol vapor concentrations of 3,000 ppm or greater may
allow for cumulative effect to occur with resulting nausea, vomiting, headache, ringing in the ears,
insomnia, trembling, unsteady gait, vertigo, clouded and double vision. Liver and/or kidney injury
may occur. Prolonged overexposure at levels of 800-1000 ppm may result in severe eye damage in
some persons.
(*) Since there are no definitive screening methods available to identify susceptible individuals, we
suggest that people with asthma, or other longstanding respitory conditions (for example, chronic
bronchitis, emphysema, etc.) should be protected from nay potential exposure to ethleneamines.
Skin contact may cause sensitization and an allergic reaction. Cross-sensitization may occur by skin
contact with this material and other amines.
