Stephen Ministries is a not-for-profit Christian education
organization founded in 1975 that produces training and
resources known for their excellence, practicality,
psychological integrity, and theological depth.

A STEPHEN MINISTER IS:
Stephen Ministry equips lay
people to provide confidential, one-toone Christian care to adults (18 and
over) in our community* who are
experiencing difficulties in their lives
such as –








Loss of a loved one
Hospitalization
Divorce or separation
Loneliness or discouragement
Spiritual crisis
Unemployment or a job crisis
Terminal or chronic illness
Caregiver/family member of
someone with terminal/chronic
illness
 Birth, adoption, miscarriage or
infertility
 Relocation
 Recovery after accident or
disaster

Christ-centered - works and acts as an
instrument of God’s love for others
 Compassionate – has gifts for
caregiving; carefully selected to serve
 Skilled - received 50 hours of training in
providing emotional and spiritual care
 Trustworthy – a Christian friend who
listens and respects the care relationship’s
confidentiality

Faith-filled - will “be there” for his or
her care receiver; meeting faithfully for
about an hour each week, for as long as
there is a need.
