Purpose of the Job
The Demand Planner is responsible for ensuring continued product availability, whilst keeping
stock levels to a minimum. To support the Group Inventory Manager in driving supply chain
improvements by conducting process reviews and implementing best practice.
Job Content and Context
1. Achieve availability targets for your area, within budgeted inventory stock levels through
effective end-to-end management of the supply chain
2. S&OP - Manage sales and operation planning, capacity planning and inventory health
management.
3. Drive root cause analysis - Be a leader, challenge the status quo and continually drive supply
chain improvements necessary for efficiency and growth
4. Work with internal teams to improve in-stock efficiencies, help drive tools and process
improvements that affect purchasing and vendor management workflow, with emphasis on
automating tasks that are currently performed manually
5. Manage relationships with vendors, CPFR - Collaborative planning, forecasting and
replenishment, continually measuring and improving supplier lead times, reduce operational
defects, and improve systems to streamline operations between vendors and CU.
6. Apply a customer centric approach when working with some of CU’s most important
customers e.g.: Apple store.
7. Review Forecasting error ratios and influence decision making to ensure that we are
maximising availability and managing down unproductive inventory
8. Communicate clearly and professionally with senior management in reporting and handling
escalations
9. Manage multiple projects – prioritising, planning, reporting and delegating appropriate tasks
10. Manage the return of all stocks including License LODs, Excess/Aged/EOL/Faulty
11. Ensure the company’s legal requirements are met with respect to the purchase and
transportation of goods.
12. Any ad-hoc duties deemed appropriate by the Group Inventory Manager.
Performance Standards:
1. Availability targets, budgeted inventory and unhealthy inventory levels are maintained within
targets set by Group Inventory Manager
2. Delivery of objectives and completing tasks within agreed time scales
3. Weekly meeting to review targets and identify processes for improvement
4. Escalate opportunities and threats to the Group Inventory Manager
5. CU guidelines and processes are followed
Candidate Profile
Must have:
1. Motivated individual with enthusiasm and flexibility
2. Analytical with creative and flexible problem solving skills
3. Strong sense of ownership with a bias for action, driving results and championing ideas
4. Excellent communication skills including written and oral.
5. Commercially aware and able to use influencing skill across CU to achieve end goal
6. Experience of identifying and improving process in high-volume environments
7. Team player, confident and pro-active
Work History
Must have:
1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain or inventory management
2. Commercially aware and experienced in influencing decision making
3. Experience of identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions
Qualifications/Training
Desirable:
1. University degree preferred, ideally in a technical or analytical discipline
2. Strong numerical skills with advanced Excel
3. Experience of supply change management systems
