Welcome and Call to Order 1. Jerry called meeting to order at 7:10PM. There is a quorum present (3 of 3 Board of Directors are present) * NOTE – AAB Bylaws will be in effect replacing the CBPM AA’s previous governance documents. III. Call to order Present: Renee Deming, Hoang Dinh, Ebony Williams, Monika Moore, Alfred Magallanes, Abe Helou, Raymond Medina, Joe De La Cerda, Carrie Hasse, Jerry Gonzalez, Elizabeth Tabita, Chris Braunstein (guest - Alumni Advisory Board Past President), Faheem Dayala, Hibh Dayala (guest). Present via conference call: None. IV. Agenda 1. Discussed but no motion presented. V. Minutes 1. Minutes from August 11th meeting. Motioned, seconded, and passed. VI. Executive and Chair Reports & Housekeeping A. President (Jerry) Report: 1. CBPM AA materials box was to be reviewed but since it is not in the CBPM office anymore, we will talk about this at a later time. It is outside the office in a cabinet where Ebony will have access with a key. a. Ebony talked about the brochures, there are no new pictures to replace the older members (event photos that Alfred mentioned were mainly reception/general alumni photos). Small batch to be used for Saturday’s event. Flyers will have event info. Miscellaneous items (pens, stress balls, etc.) to be determined later. Abe mentioned that Carrie C. may have the past alumni picnic photos. Joe thanked Jerry for submitting the event photo to the website for registration, Jerry also said to have Joe take credit for it as well. Discussion was to keep the two year old professional photo for the time being for marketing materials. Abe suggested that most of us dress up for the photo on Saturday’s event. 2. Homecoming on Sat. October 25th. a. Jerry would like to have someone be a point person for this event, as he will be out of state that weekend. Renee has volunteered for this event. b. Monika clarified that Homecoming is the weekend from Fri. October 24 th through Sun. October 26th. c. Carrie mentioned that staffing for the booth on Saturday is dictated by who will be available considering the Fri. night receptions/dinner will take place. Alfred stated that his office takes care of this on Fri. night. d. Hoang mentioned that if you are attending the reception/dinner, you need to register for Homecoming on the University website. Hoang suggested to Renee that we get in touch with Angie (CAB Office) on reserving the table and I can help her with that. e. Carrie suggests that everyone reach out to 3-5 people to register for Fri.’s reception event, open to current students as well. Colleges hand out faculty awards at the reception, but Abe does not want to disclose the information at this time. f. Raymond asked Monika if Homecoming flyers can be available on Sat.’s event so that Homecoming can be marketed. g. Monika stated that gift packs can be made available for Rick as he is teaching a class that Sat. of Homecoming. The theme of this year’s Homecoming is Leo Pride. h. Ebony asked if a raffle could be held at the booth. Monika and Alfred mentioned that it isn’t against the rules but CAB runs this, she’ll check with Angie. Jerry mentioned that there needs to be a hook for alumni to approach the booth and want to associate with the group. The lack of following up on the interest cards is what the group has been lacking in the past. B. Vice President (Renee) Report: 1. Sat. September 13th networking/football event. a. Thanked Alfred as the last count is 30 attending. He’ll have nametags for us. b. Food is appetizers, beer and wine taken care of by Carrie C. Jerry has the catering plan left by Abe. c. Carrie H. asked about the cutoff date regarding the RSVP. Alfred won’t turn anyone away, there is a buffer for food. d. Alfred will have sign-in sheets available. e. Jerry passed out a copy of those attending. f. Hoang asked if we should be dressed in business professional or be casual. C. Secretary (Hoang) Report: 1. Received email from Sarah Prosenko asking for the names of those members participating in 2014-2015 calendar year, this is for the October edition of The Voice magazine. a. The group went through the list of names to either keep or remove. Hoang committed to getting the names to Sarah by Tue. September 9 th. Dayala, Faheem De La Cerda, Joe Deming, Renee Dinh, Hoang D. E. F. G. Gillen, Larry Gonzalez, Gerardo Hasse, Richard Hasse, Carrie Macias, Carrie Medina, Raymond Nichols, Ryan Tabita, Elizabeth Williams, Ebony Outreach Chair (Vacant) Report: 1. Submitted Rick’s email with Outreach event dates. Rick also suggested that he step down due to his teaching conflict. a. Carrie H. reviewed the events and Jerry can talk with Rick on Sat.’s event to confirm the events. b. Ebony asked if she can get potential RSVP lists with Rick on Sat. Tentative Events: c. Mr. Doug Robertson, City Manager for the City of Victorville, is speaking to my Managing Financial Resources class on Thu. October 2nd. I thought I would also invite High Desert alumni to the event as well. PR for the event will be available September 8th. d. I will be hosting my annual football tailgate event for the final home game of the season on Sat. November 8th vs. Pomona-Pitzer at 11:00AM (game begins at 1:00PM). This tailgate is open to all alumni and friends of ULV football. PR for this event will be available October 1st. e. I am in the preliminary stage of setting up an evening of finance/economy discussions with Mr. Willard Caddell, Senior Vice President of U.S. Bank for Wed. November 19th at our Orange County campus. This event is also planned to be available Online through WebEx to students and alumni. Mr. Caddell has committed to the event; we are now just matching calendars. PR for this event will hopefully be ready by October 1st. f. We have selected Sat. February 14th, 2015 at 6:00PM for our annual Hockey Night in Ontario. The game this year will be the Reign vs. Alaska Aces (defending league champs). November is the schedule PR announcement for this event. g. Finally, I have reconnected with Mr. Grant Riddle, Vice President and General Manager of the baseball Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. We are a go for a CBPM Alumni night and discussion about the business of professional sport franchises. We are looking at a May, 2015 date for this. As the planning for this event develops I will advise. I plan on also involving a graduate class in this event, and having the Ontario campus alumni involved in this event. h. Any of our CBPM alumni who would like to help in the planning of these events; I look forward to your communication. Events Chair (Vacant) Report: 1. Combined with the Outreach Chair email report. Marketing Chair (Ebony) Report: 1. Pen sample styles (red, blue, and black). Red has been selected. Burbank Chapter President (Joe) Report: 1. Joe met with the Executive Board this past Sat. a. To have events at the Burbank Campus, tentatively on Sat. September 27th, Talent Manager from Northrop-Grumman. b. Sat. November 15th, President of a banking institution. 2. Dead period in December as Burbank chapter plans to attend the Holiday event. 3. Alfred asked how Joe plans to have registration for these events. Joe will be talking with Monika on this. 4. Carrie H. asked how many can be accommodated in these events. Joe said it would be about 40 total. H. Alumni Advisory Board Representative (Raymond) Report: 1. Brief update on Sun. September 21st meeting. Raymond will touch base with Joe and Renee on these upcoming events. VII. Alumni Relations Office (Monika/Alfred) A. Alumni Advisor Board’s Executive Board met yesterday. The next upcoming meeting will be on Sun. September 21st in the Howell Board Room at 1:00PM. B. Sat. September 13th – reception for College of Law in San Diego at 4:30-6:30PM. C. Sat. September 13th – pre-game party for the Alumni in the Portland, OR area before the first football game vs. George Fox University at 7:00PM. D. Thu.
