Evolution and transformation in tourism destinations:
Revitalisation through innovation?
Rovira i Virgili University, Catalonia
10th-13th February 2014
PRESENTER BRIEFING 9/1/2014
Below are some issues to keep in mind when preparing your workshop
presentations. If there are any questions or points for clarification, please do not
hesitate to get in touch with Julie Wilson, Co-Chair (Julie.Wilson@urv.cat).

The format of the parallel presentation sessions is an oral presentation of 15
minutes, which should cover the overall aims / objectives of the research
being presented, methodology(ies), findings and conclusions. We kindly ask
presenters to endeavour to keep as far as possible to their allocated time.

It is important that presenters also attempt to link their presentation clearly to
the topic of their session and the workshop themes, based around tourism,
regional development and innovation.

As this is a research network meeting, discussion / question time has a high
priority and there will be five minutes or so set aside questions for each
presenter, which may be after each presentation or at the end of the
session, at the discretion of the session chair.

Presenters may make use of MS PowerPoint as required. Please let us
know as soon as possible if there are any other AV equipment requirements.

Please bring MS PowerPoint presentations on a pen drive or CD-ROM. The
session chair will request presentations at the beginning of the session and
they should be copied to the PC desktop in the indicated RSA2014 folder.

We aim to distribute electronically the presentations from the workshop to all
participants afterwards. To facilitate this process, presenters may leave their
MS PowerPoint file on the PC after their session for us to compile later.

Please note that the Regional Studies Association is an English language
network and hence all of its events are held in the English language, as
such, no simultaneous translation is available.
Post-workshop Publication Opportunities
As this is a research-focused network meeting and not a conference, the
emphasis is on the presentation of the research in question so the full papers
do not need to be submitted in advance.
Presenters may opt to submit their paper after the event (the timetable and plan
for this will be agreed at the event) for one or more publications outputs.
We have had three approaches from publishers for edited research
monographs – two from Routledge and one from Cambridge publishing. The
Routledge series that are interested are:
Contemporary Geographies of Leisure, Tourism and Mobility (edited by Mike
Hall)
http://www.routledge.com/books/series/SE0522/
Regions and Cities (edited by Gillian Bristow, Maryann Feldman, Gernot
Grabher, Ron Martin, Martin Perry)
http://www.routledge.com/books/series/RSA/
There is also the option to produce a special issue of a regional studies,
geography or tourism-based journal.
Presenters wishing to submit their paper for publication are informed that their
inclusion in any publications will be subject to acceptance following a peer
review process for quality, style and relevance considerations.
