37th Annual Big 12 Conference on Black Student Government Continuing the Dream: Exceeding all Expectations Call for Programs This Call for Programs is to identify exceptional sessions and presentations that match the conference theme Continuing the Dream: Exceeding all Expectations and the mission and vision of the 37th Annual Big 12 Conference on Black Student Government: The overall mission of the Big 12 Conference on Black Student Government is: The mission of the Big 12 Conference on Black Student Government is to provide a positive forum where students may come and gain the knowledge and tools to equip them to succeed. With an emphasis on leadership and professionalism, the conference will address culture, unity, service and scholarship. Guidelines for Presentations Sessions and presentations are scheduled to be 50 minutes long and will be held to this time limit during the conference. Both undergraduate and graduate students are strongly encouraged to submit proposals. Please ensure you complete all parts of this Call for Programs form. Incomplete forms will not be considered. Proposals that do not speak to the mission, vision, and theme of the conference will not be considered. Proposals that serve to solicit business or products for financial gain will not be considered. Presenters will be expected to cover all their expenses (travel, lodging, food, etc.) to and from the conference site at Iowa State University. Presenters that wish to take part in all of the Conference activities, including meals, must purchase registration. Presenters will not be compensated/reimbursed for workshops or materials. Presentations must be respectful of multiple constituencies that will be attending the conference. Profane language or illicit material (spoken, audio, video, etc.) may not be used. Updates to presentation title and abstract, number of presenters, workshop content and format must be submitted to the Conference email (iastatebig12bsg@gmail.com) by January 27 for approval. Successful programs for the Conference will contain: Multiple methods on how conference participants will be engaged throughout the presentation Clear, concise learning objectives that will highlight what participants will gain from the program Discussion points and topics that speak to the mission of the Big 12 Conference on Black Student Government Dialogue that is respectful of multiple identities and constituencies that will attend sessions Information that students will be able to apply to their academic and personal lives This form can be completed using Microsoft Word. Proposal Timeline The Call for Programs will be available beginning on October 18, 2013 and will close at 12:00 noon Central Standard Time on January 1, 2014.
