A substance that dissolve another substance known as solute.

A mixture of two or more liquids that are normally immiscible (can’t mix together).

A solution in which there is little amount of solute in a solvent.

A solution that contains more solute than would normally dissolve at a certain temperature.

Water – an universal solvent as it can dissolve a lot of substance.

Salad dressing, myaonnaise

One spoon of salt in 1 litre of water

Boiling syrup

The amount of solute that can be dissolved by the

solvent

A solution in which the maximum amount of solute has been dissolved. (No more solute can be dissolved )

A mixture in which a solute is dissolved in a solvent to form a transparent liquid.

When a substance can’t be dissolved in a solvent

32g Copper sulphate can be dissolved in

100ml water

32g Copper sulphate is dissolved in 100ml water to make such as solution

A clear sugar solution or saline (salt solution)

Chalk can be dissolved in water

Become incorporated into a solvent so as to form a solution.

Solid salt crystals disappear in water

A mixture between two substances, one of which is not soluble and dispersed in another substance.

This insoluble substance will eventually settle down to the bottom.

A solution in which there is more solute in a solvent.

A solution in which more of the solute could dissolve at the same temperature.

Muddy water, the mud will settle to the bottom later

Ten spoon of sugar in a glass of water

A glass of water with only 1 teaspoon of sugar dissolved in it.

When a solute dissolves and seems to disappear in a solvent.

The solute is incorporated in the solvent

A mixture in which intermediate sized particles suspended and completely dispersed in another substance. These particles will not settle down to the bottom.

Solid in blood, foam, jellly

A substance that is used to stabilise the emulsion. Detergents or mustard

A substance that is dissolved by a solvent to form a solution

Salt is dissolved in water
